Guess I should move to Boise then if I ever want to sniff at an upgrade. After 22 years, my airline experience has been largely "Gum on Shoe" with United, "Dog Poo on Shoe" with American, a few thousand points short of A List on Southwest, and, unbelievably, Silver or even Gold on Delta. Totally depends on where you live and whether you have "friends" in scheduling.
But you're absolutely right about people outside fractional not being able to wrap their heads around a lot of what we do.
Like have 80 year old dudes still on the seniority list....but that's another keyboard duel.

The 80 year old thing....don’t get me started. At least they started putting Depends in the stock locker for those guys.

I never said I actually get upgrades with that status 😜 Most of those flights are on RJs and so being 10 down on the upgrade list meant nothing. The best it got you was maybe an exit row where you had to answer all the annoying questions like “why aren’t you up front?”

I’m from Pennsylvania. I lived in SoCal for four years, but I never tell anyone. 😉

It has been said by our negotiators that those at smaller bases tend to have higher after midnights and less revenue legs. It is not a significant large number, but even a 10-20% increase is an expense. Supposedly, 90% of all our pilots live within 3 hours of a green base. As the pilot group doesn't seem willing to reduce the bases which could lead to more pay, the company has added the shorter tour options for green bases as an alternative. However, with the advent of FDP, that doesn't seem to be as attrnow.
