NJA has two schedules, 7 on 7 off and the flexable schedule. Forget the "reserve" schedule. Everyone is on reserve.

7 on/off, you have a set day that start and end your tour. Example: start Sunday and end on Saturday. During the week the schedule changes and you fly somewhere.

The flexable schedule is simple, you are available until called. You get called the night before, 10 hrs before your show. You show and can be used for 1 day or 7. More than 7, the company owes overtime. If you work 1,2,3,4,5, or 6 days then you get 3 off. If you work 7 days you get 4 days off. Your work days are exactly like 7/7. In addition, you have 4 hard days off per month, 2 or 4 days in a row. You bid for those off days in the month prior.

Hi Duck, I left you a PM.

Everyone considering coming to NJA from a 121 background: Please forget everything you know about 121 style scheduling. It doesn't pertain outside the 121 world. The word "Reserve" at NJA is just the name of a schedule option, and it simply means that you're pay is based on 216 work days per year instead of 182 on the 7/7 schedule. There is no such thing as call-outs, rigs, junior manning and the like.

All pilots receive a brief on their last "day off." That brief tell you where to show up and when. Reserve pilots may be used from 1 to 7 days with contractual days off afterward, and you do not know from week to week how long your week will be. We do not have "call out" times, and you cannot be called on your day off.

What is the difference between working for Netjets vs. Executive? For that matter what is the difference between Netjets and Executive? ie. How transparent are the companies... Don't understand so much as even the very beginning of working for a fractional, but am interested in the options outside of 121 work.

I bet you are real proud of the SOFT money. If every pilot got 2750 in soft money a year that would cost NJA 7.4 million. Earn those tips my friend.

The fact is the pay at NetJets is terrible. Expect to make 10 to 12 percent over base salary. Even with that NJA can't touch the airlines or a corporate job.

To each his own. I love the crews at NJA, I liked the company, but I didn't like the compensation. Even the guys that benifited most from the last contract aren't compensated on par with most corporate gigs. I have a great deal of respect for NJA pilots and I think they deserve to be at the pinnacle of pilot pay scales.

When I said SOFT money, I wasn't simply referring to tips. They are only part of the equation.... Since you used to work here, you know there are a lot of "Freebies" that come with the job. The majority of this total came from money obtained through "Fuel Incentive" programs from our preferred providers.

I agree the payscales still aren't quite on par with the rest of the corporate world flying similar equipment -- but there's room to grow!!

I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised at how little you made your first year -- especially considering you were in the Excel. With differences pay, and the amount of cycles they fly, most of the first year Excel FO's I've talked to were easily into the $50's.

I'm sorry you weren't able to find what you were looking for and I wish you well in your next endeavour.

As far as your quote above, I need to correct this urban legend. For some reason, everyone on these boards (and ours) keeps saying the X is the busiest fleet. The X flies the same amount of hours every month as the Encore, Excel, and the 2000A. The X's hours are exceeded by the XLS and the G200. The G200 is statistically the busiest fleet.

Yeah, but the X crews have longer Duty days than the G200 folks hangin-out at the hotel. :p

Hi!

My buddy told me if you're on reserve, you have to be called by 1800 for your next day. If you're not called by 1800, you're off that day.

When they call you (B4 1800) you are put into 10 hrs of crew rest, and told what time to show up at the aiport, what airline you're flying on, and where they're sending you to pick up your A/C.

Usually the "reserve" schedule is unavailable to junior guys because senior guys want it for the extra pay.

Hi!

248tothemarker:
If you can't get on at NetJets now, I would suggest looking at USA Jet. The pay is decent, and you will like it a TON better than Lakes.

I was offered a street captain job at Lakes, and instead ended up at USA Jet. I'm glad.

Mostly correct. Getting reserve is fleet dependent. The min is 10% on reserve for fleet/seat. The max is 40%. It should not be that difficult to obtain as it stands now.
