netjets PIC

Can you log PIC time at NJ from the right seat? I'm curious because it seems both pilots are typed and have an ATP. Similar to 121 with CA and FO? Some planes fly with no FO according to the pay scale (?).

from the FAA, the answer is no. Only the pilot designated by the company as PIC (99 out of 100 the most senior) can log PIC time. Even if the typed SIC occupies the left seat on a ferry leg he/she is still designated as the SIC and unable to log PIC time.

Can you by Part 61 definition....Yes. Is it worth anything....No
The company maintains records for all the pilots which shows whether you were PIC or SIC. Even if two PICs are flying together, the junior PIC is still recorded as an SIC. No-one here is building time so it is a moot point. If a future employer asks NJA how long you were Captain and they say never, someone is going to ask how you got the 1000 PIC time.

Jmack, take a look at the logging time requirements in the FAR/AIM, you're passing out bogus info. You most definitely can log PIC time, but acting as PIC is a different story.

So what is the right answer? I am double typed and am senior to all but one of our pilots. can I log it pic except for the time with that pilot?

If you are operating under part 91, and its your leg to fly then yes. Under 91 there is a difference in being the one who signs for the aircraft as PIC and the one who gets to log the time as PIC. With 135, its a different story.

This is such a grey area, I Am PIC typed at my company but am only an SIC our FAA POI says we can log our time as PIC when we are the sole manipulator of the controls and our company wants us to log this time as PIC so when we upgrade we do not have to be on high minimums for our first 100 hours. I for one have heard many different stories about what is right but at this time I am logging the legs that I fly as PIC. My question is will I get burned someday during an Interview when they see this time. On my resume I am putting this time down but have a note that I am not the designated PIC. Any suggestions would be a great help.

Not bogus info at all. Next time your in CMH call Mr leister and his answer will be no. Lear 31, did you poi tell you that? or did you company say the poi said that. sounds sketchy at best.

NetJets_DA2Easy 08-25-2007 01:26 PM

It's bogus dude, you don't have an understanding of the difference between LOGGING and ACTING/SERVING as PIC. Until you get the regs out and READ the logging pic part you will remain fubar.

If your typed and are the flying pilot log PIC, your company can not take you off high mins though until you have SERVED as PIC for 100 hours, logging and serving PIC are as different as oranges and apples.

jmack 08-25-2007 02:11 PM

Guess you know more than our POI, good on you. I'll stick with his word myself myself. If your not PIC on the release you can't act as PIC or log it. Show up at a SWA interview with 1000 of the crap in your book and you'll get sent home like a buddy of mine did, didn't even give the interview. Now he is screwed there for ever.
