What sort of time do Fractional companies look for?
 
Just curious, what sort of times do fractional companies look for (the big guys, citation shares, flex jet, net jets…). I was told by many that most corporate companies look for corporal experience. But does that mean if I fly B1900 or CRJ200, my chances are very slim?

Search the database and you'll more than likely find an answer...I'm sure someone will provide an answer - you may have to wait a bit...Traditionally, you need more time than the regionals to get into corporate.

You will definately require more time to work for a company such as NetJets. In the recent gouges, new hires have had time ranging between 3000-5000 hours. Also, it appears that they do not discriminate too much an the basis of previous employment (91,121,135).

Officially, their minimums are 2500TT and 500 ME with an ATP certificate. They do not specify any aircraft requirements as far as either weight or powerplant type.

If you are looking to go fractional, I do not recommend Flight Options. I have heard horror stories from their pilots, they absolutely hate working there. Plus, it appears that Raytheon is looking to sell their huge share of the company... they may be out of business within the next few years.

Most of the mins are posted on the other part of this site under the airlines title... but to paraphrase I think Citation is the lowest at 2000 TT and the rest are 2500 TT... they usually require less turbine time than the majors... like 500.

My son was hired by Flexjet with about 2700 hrs. The majority of this was in the B-1900, with a few hundred hours of MD-80 time at Southeast before they went belly up. He seems pretty happy at Flexjet.

Did he know someone in the company? 2700 does not seem a lot, but good to hear that he got the job.

Edik; Tried to email you privately so as not to clog up the forum, but it wouldn't let me. No, he did not know anyone at Flexjet, but I believe he talked to a rep. at one of those aviation job fairs. He just reurned from a 6 day trip and has 6 off. Joel

Here is what happened to me regarding Flexjet. I emailed Karen Parr my resume with a little over 2500tt, 1400 part 121 jet sic, and 1500+ multiengine. I did not have my atp yet, but I live in Ft. Worth. Karen called me about a week later and asked if I would be interested in doing the phone interview. I told her that I don't have my atp yet and she said I needed to get it in order to be employed by Flex. She asked if I was still interested in doing the phone interview, of course I said yes. The conversation ended on a positive note with Karen telling me that as soon as I get the atp to call her back and she would definitely interview me. I got the atp about 3 weeks later and emailed her an updated resume, plus called her voicemail last week. I still haven't heard back from her yet, but I do know she was out of the office all last week and is probably playing catch-up.
