I see that you and 1jetpilot are both saying "90 miles by midnight" but I can find nowhere in the contract that backs that up. Do you have a specific reference? It sounds like someone in HR has their wires crossed with the last contract.

Yup, it clearly states that 90 miles by midnight on the first day of duty. This was in the application packet.

Smile Further to the interview question

Is it still true that if you have been forwarded an application to complete and it is quite a packet of info that they will most likely call you in for an interview? Is there anywhere on this site or elsewhere where the gouge is available for the interview? If you elect to do reserve versus 7 on 7 off how much are you usually working? Any help would be appreciated.

All newhires are placed on the "Reserve Schedule" until their seniority # will hold a 7/7 bid.

Forget everything you know about the airline word "reserve." The "reserve schedule" at NJA means you will work more days per month than someone on the 7/7 schedule (18 vs. 14-16). Our reserve doesn't mean "on call."

So where can I sign up? Just kidding, my package is already overnighted and I am waiting for the interview call.

Default NJA Procedures

One of the many NJA pilots out there lets try a scenario for clarification. If say a new hire is based in Dallas but wants to live in Memphis, will they always get you to your plane or is this not even a possiblity. I think that will give me the best answer to the whole 90 miles question.
With these things in mind are there any travel benifits at NJA (Jumpseat with any airlines, Discount Travel) that might make something like this possible for some.

Default Instrument Time at NJA

One more answer if someone has it. How firm are they on this whole 250 hours of instrument thing in the requirements. If you greatly exceed most of the others can this be waved, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It is my understanding that the new contract requires pilots to live at base, and the pilots falling under the old contract are not required to live at base. Something to consider as part of the cost for being a fng.

Default Travel Benefits

Thanks for the info. I am also looking for any more info on a career at NJA, incuding travel benefits and possibly a typical work month if someone wants to run me through what goes on there and what can be expected.
