Question Changing from regional to fractional

Has any one here been at a regional and then gone over to a fractional. The fractional world looks much better on paper, but I would like to hear how things really are. I've invested (poor investment) 5.5 years into AMR as an FO, and think it's finally time try something different. I know the grass is always greener else where, but I would just like to hear a first hand account from someone. QOL and better pay in the long term are my goals.
Thanks

I would assume that the 5.5 years with AMR has all been as an eagle fo? PM me if you would like some info, as I was once in your shoes.

Thanks for the reply. I apparently cannot PM yet due to number of posts. Anyway, I have been an Eagle FO for over five years without even a guess as to when I might upgrade. Is it really better on the outside or is it just a grass is greener type of thing?

I believe that first year pay at a Flight Options is better than 5th year pay at Eagle. The big difference is direct customer contact ie. loading bags, getting catering, and pre departure briefings.

Pay is just one aspect of it. There are many other perks along with the different type of flying. Eagle treats their employees like dirt it is not a secret. Most of the fractionals treat their employees much better. I am coming up on my two year anniversary with Eagle and want out. I just recently received an offer from Flexjet and have an interview with NJA right after the first of the year. After all of my research, I feel the fractionals are a much better place to be.

Thanks for all the input. Looks like you all have confirmed what I was thinking. While I'm sure the fractionals are not perfect, it looks like they are a much better deal than the regionals.

You pretty much have the point correct. Check out the different fractionals and see what you think for yourself. Let me know if I can be of assistance. We might even be flying out of the same base.

Although I never flew for the regionals, I have flown with numerous former regional and mainline pilots (retirees/furloughees). None of them would ever think of returning, including the mainline furloughees.

But, if you are not a people person, don't consider it. Unlike the airlines, we greet every passenger, every leg.

NJA Capt
sorry I didn't mean to say that is a negative side, I meant to say that you just can't enter the airplane and turn left, there are other duties. I completely agree with everything you posted above.
just keeping the peace,

No foul. I hope I didn't come across negatively either. Come on in...the waters fine.
