Uh, many young guys will have to choose a major if they want a job at all. Now with this gianormous pay increase you guys got, the proverbial floodgates will open (if they haven't already) and you will now see the TT and PIC Turbine times to be competetive (I didn't say to meet the mins, now, but to be competetive just to be asked for an interview) skyrocket out of many's reach (including my own). I'm forcasting competetive times to be around 8-9K TT and 3-4K PIC Turbine. Guess I'll come over to NJA after I have a career somewhere else. Feel free to weigh-in if anyone thinks I'm being too much of a cynic (read crybaby) here.

I've heard (from an inside source) that their hiring process is about to change. Interviewees will be required to have internal recommendations from now on (not sure if that's true though). As far as flight time minimums…who knows. I did talk to a new hire last week who was one of the lower time guys in his class and he had 12,000 hours. Then again I’ve been told as long as you meet the minimums and have a recommendation, you are competitive. Time will tell.

I'm working on the new payscale graphic. It's the most difficult one I've had to do in recent memory w/r/t making the presentation/layout as simple as possible.

I will have it posted by tomorrow (Sunday) night.

There's no linkage between the two. You have to think outside the scheduled airline box. We normally airline to and from work on the company's dime and time, and it doesn't much matter where from.

This is very typical for a company when it becomes "highly desirable". They have the luxury to get very particular. I don't think the hiring mins will change, but its going to get very competitive. Who will be the first major/cargo/fractional to require 5 hours in orbit, and 2 space-shuttle landings???? Hahaha

There are rumors about how many more we will hire. This just has to do with growth and attrition. As has been mentioned, our weak link is FSI and sim training. There are rumors that all recurrents will be in Wichita and Toledo, leaving CMH to new hires. I have no idea how true this is.

As far as bases go, we could have 99% of post-05 pilots in LAS or DEN or PBI if the individual so desired. It is your choice. You still do not have to live around one of the 100 bases. You can choose to commute from BFE to any of the 100 if you so desire. There will still be some people commutting. I know of at least one person that still has a 3 hr drive and choice of two different airports.

How do you think being more particular as far as hiring affects people already in "the pool"? I received the "application accepted" email in 26 October and I'm thinking that when more qualified pilots get their application in, my application gets put on the backburner...oh well, I'll just keep truckin along and see what happens....

BFE = Terry County Airport, Brownfield, Texas. Right up there with SUX for an airport identifier.
