7 on, 7 off (NetJets)

So, do your 7 days always begin on say a Monday and end on a Sunday, or does that vary? And if so, what if you want a certain day off can you shift the 7 days back and forth a day or two?

Basically, I'm wondering about schedule flexibility, and whether I'll be able to adjust my schedule if I have something important to attend.

7/7 schedule, kick ass QOL, but no schedule-flexibility. Small price to pay for the QOL you'll enjoy. Want a day off? _________fill in the blank. You might be better off bidding for the 15 and/or 18 day schedule, you get to pick some hard days off.

Does it vary? No. On the Hawker 800 fleet (yours truly), you start on Tuesdays or Saturdays.

thanks

Thanks UCLA. I guess it is just hit or miss if you get say a Christmas or Thanksgiving day off?

There are 10 holidays that NJA pays extra for and many don't mind getting them as work days. If I recall correctly, just about every 7 and 7 ends up with 5 of those holidays on and 5 of them off. Pilots definitely do bid onto different 7 and 7 lines to get days they want off and there are now 3 bid periods per year that give you the opportunity to make the change. There is no sliding on the 7 and 7, but there will be a paid time off program that starts this June I believe, though it will be easier to take them on the other 2 schedules since they won't break up your 7 and 7 to send you out more than once in the week- if the day you needed was day 4, you would have to request days 4 through 7 off and hope they can spare you on all of them. My guess is that quite a few pilots won't bother with the personal days- they will just call in sick like they always did if they need the day off since sick days cannot be rejected by the company like a personal day could.

7 and 7

Thanks JTF. That clears up my questions about holidays working at NJA. I would be happy with 5 out of 10 and getting paid for the 5 I worked.

You mentioned the different 7 and 7 lines; so, you can change your 7 and 7 a couple times a year without changing airplanes? I'm guessing each plane has a couple different sets of 7 and 7's you can work.

Thanks in advance…

Each aircraft has it's own set of start days. There are 3 schedule bid periods now that don't change your aircraft or seat so you can switch between 7 and 7 lines and/or the 15 day reserve or 18 day schedules 3 times a year. There are published seam tables for those who change between 7 and 7 lines since it isn't a very smooth change most of the time- especially if you change (for example) from one Thursday start to the next weeks Thursday start- they won't work you two straight weeks or give you two straight weeks off to accomplish the change over, but the contract dictates exactly how they will do it.

How does NJA handle the 7/7 schedule for Guard guys? I seem to recall that you spend all 7 days with the same Capt...so it would seem that it might be tough to get you into the swing of things if you have Guard duty on the first 2 days of your 7 on. Can anyone with this type of experience comment? Thanks!

They just pair you with someone. If the need to pair you with someone else mid tour they will. Working NJ and the Guard is easy. Never had an issue with mil leave, either.
