NetJets Applicant Scoring System
 

I have been told that NetJets is using a pilot applicant scoring system for the candidates whose applications have been accepted for interviews. The scores are derived from the applicants experience (91, 135, 121), education, total flight time, aircraft flown, internal letters of recommendation, etc... Does anyone know what the score range is and what scores are currently competitive for interview slots?

I was told that the new written test is a 20 question multiple choice test, taken from the ATP (Airplane) question bank? Is this correct?

Several companies use that type of system. It separates prop from jets, B.A degree versus no degree, and that type of thing. This is why I think fewer guys with not jet experience will get the call, and guys without any type of turbine experience will become extinc.

Well, I found out about the scoring sheet the hard way. That is to say, I sent in my application incomplete, and received it back to finish it. I thought that was nice, but wish I had finished it right the first time....

Anyways, not sure if it was deliberate or not, but the scoring sheet of which you speak was included in what they sent back to me and I was very surprised first, that they sent it to me and that second, they used something like that to begin with. Anyways, I didn't make a copy of it, and my memory will not do this thread justice, but from what I remember there was a total of 36 points possible. Some of the items that they scored were, how neat your application was and whether it was typed or not. I highly recommend typing it, as I didn't. Points for military time, typed in a NetJets aircraft, ie. Gulfstream, Cessna Citation/Excel/X, etc.... Points for some kind of customer service experience. Points for completeness of application- may go along with the prior mention of neatness of you app., etc.... I think points for 121/135 time. I think many of the others were merely points for meeting the minimum flight time requirements, ie. total time, multi-time, jet time, etc.... I really can't think of anything else, but if I do, i will share more. Hope this helps. By the way, I submitted my app at end of Nov, got my crap back in Dec and resent everything mid-end of Dec. Still waiting to hear anything.....

Manfred33, thanks that helps. Perhaps more info will follow. I submitted my application back in October 07, received my email that it was accepted Nov 07, nothing further. Had my friend walk in my internal letter of recommendation and he learned about the scoring system at that time (he could not obtain any further info). He told me that the rec was going to bump my score up, how much is anybody's guess? He asked how long it might be before I would get the interview call, he was told anywhere from 30 days to one year. That is all I know. Good Luck!

I second that. You do whatever you want, but I highly recommend you type it. don't have the software, libraries have typewriters.

Hey, no problem!! I hope to hear more too. I forgot that they give points for LOR too. I have four, so I hope that helps alleviate any of the dumb stuff I did completing the application. Checking with one of my buddies tomorrow to see what he knows. I did hear that it can take a long time to get an interview. I don't know how much longer i can wait; I'm happy I have a job, but I'm so looking forward to the day I can say, shove it!!

UCLAbruins, yeah, i knew I should have typed it. I have an old typewriter too, but probably would have needed a new ribbon, and not sure I could have found one. And, ironically, my mom works in a friggin' library. What more did I need?!

I know how much work you are all doing to get hired at NetJets. I just wanted to offer a fillable Adobe .pdf file of the NetJets Application that I can't take full credit for. It can be filled out with the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader and uses a simple typewriter function. It is only 1.2 MB and will make your life much easier when anyone applies at NetJets. Is this acceptable now? I did just that and had the application sent back to me back in October. I then hand wrote it out and sent it in and received the application accepted e-mail on 25 October.

I have over and above their requirements and a letter of reference and nar a word on an interview yet.

It has become painfully obvious to me that the former 121 guy (former USAir?) they have involved in the hiring process now (found in one of the threads on APC) is focusing pretty heavily on the 121 guys that are applying.

I have seen several posters give their date of application accepted and date of interviews and they are well inside of mine. I will continue to wait and will continue to look for changing trends within NetJets highering process. Thankfully I have a good job as well.

It seems like most newbies I talk to came from the airlines. LOTS of airline guys here at NJ.

9999, you had the typed PDF sent back to you or the hand written one? There seems to be a lot of confusion on what they want you to send in. I would think typed--either typewriter or PDF would be the answer.

My file has not officially been approved by anyone from the NetJets Aviation HR team. Derinda personally told me to type my application when I applied just over a year ago. My file allows anyone to provide a neat typed application of the file that is the linked to our company website at:

I had scanned the application into a computer and used an ADOBE program to fill it out online. I then printed it out on nice paper and in color (the same color they had on the application....that light blue). It actually couldn't have been filled out any cleaner or nicer. I had it sent back to me with the statement they do not accept copies of their application.

I filled out another one by hand and sent it back in immediately and received an application received e-mail several days later. I have not heard a word since. I suspect the 121 guys are getting hired pretty heavily based on the postings I have read. I might be wrong but it is looking that way.

9999, however to solve the confusion. CURRENTLY pilots are required to download the adobe .pdf file from our Netjets website AND mail/email it in with a cover letter and resume. That is totally different than when you(9999) applied via the paper application that Netjets used to mail out. This can all be verified at:

Thanks for the information. I took alot of time to do what I did and was a bit confused and dissapointed with the reply but I am over it....lol.

I think it was a smart move on NetJets part to do it the way it is setup now.

Hi!

Just talked to an "X" NJA captain. He said now the LOR is VERY important, and it was not earlier. So, I would recommend getting LORs from NJA employees, if possible.
