NetJets Aircraft Selection
Couple of quick NetJets questions...
How do "they" determine what aircraft new hires go to? Is it based on location or the applicant's qualifications?
All pay scales I've seen have year 1 PIC numbers. When you upgrade, do you go back to year 1 for pay?

Its not consistent. A kid from a regional airline, with no jet experience at all might get the G-200 or the Sovereing, and a guy with a generous portion of int'l experience might get the Beech Jet or the Ultra. Experience plays no part on aircraft assignment (at least when I went in). No way of knowing what you'll get, and they won't ask what you want either.
Large cabin Biz Jets are no longer an option for new guys.

I was just hired and they simply offered me aircraft types that had available training dates. I had a delay in availability due to USAF retirement date but Linda was very understanding. Changing availabilty simply to get a different airframe is not permitted.

No, you don't go back to year 1 pay when you upgrade. Hope this helps, good luck!

Qpilot,
How early did you send in your application? I'm on active duty now, but could get out in a year or so and am thinking about applying. Sounds like NJ was willing to work with you over dates and separating? If you don't mind me asking, what plane/location did you get. Thanks for the info.

I applied Jun 07. I would recommend applying now. I got the Citation X. Location is not really an issue anymore. You simply have to pick one if the 100 bases. I'm in Charleston, SC. Also, an internal rec goes a long way.
Good Luck

Consider one strategy, having just seperated, pre-date your retirement date to the beginning of your terminal leave for a couple of reasons.
First, most places won't even call until several months prior to that date, so you'll line up interviews/ get the ball rolling sooner. This is better for you blood pressure.
Also, most companies will offer you start dates using that date as the earliest, and, once hired you can move your start date back if you wish. Good luck
