Default Flex all the way

Hmmmm....121 regional gig or FlexJet? Flex it man. All these folks telling you how crappy 6 on is are talking out their arse. I just went to NetJets and my QOL sucks. All they ever do is feed me and make me keep my per diem, put me up in rat traps (Embassy Suites, Crowne Plazas, Hiltons, etc.,) fly to really horrible places (Seattle Boeing Field, Turks & Caicos, Miami, New York, Hayden Colorado, Eagle, and San Diego was the worst,) insist on paying for all my uniforms and medical insurance, and let me keep all my loyalty points. On top of that they never call me in on a day off and actually give me between 15 and 21 days in a row off while only charging me 7 days of vacation EVERY time. I drive to the airport and never miss my flight because the buy me a ticket. I keep all my loyalty points which means while rick may not pay for airline travel, I don't pay for hotels.

I really miss all those ground stops into ATL and EWR. Poor gate agent assistance and hostile scheduling departments are a thing of the past and now my life is incomplete. 2 am arrivals followed by a 10:30 am departure, man, those were the days; paradise. Due to the upgrade times at legacies and the all too real threat of furloughs (read the majors room here,) the fractionals over your career will net you maybe 10% less money, MAYBE. At NetJets there is lots of "extra" money to be made, even on days you are scheduled to work. Plus, I am home 16 nights a month, and that is on the 18 day schedule. Commuting at my 121 job? I was home about 14 nights a month and never more than 3 days if I was lucky. Your time off at a fractional is there from day one, not when you are a 12 year FO or a 25 year Captain.

As you can tell, I am biased and love my new job. On the other hand, everyone implying that fractionals are where "unique" pilots and those underserving of a legacy reside, I got news for them. We are too smart to ever work for a legacy again. We are more secure and treated better over here, and for some of us, that counts. It's nice going to work with people who look forward to the "tour." Happy pilots are a rarity. Used to reside at SWA only. Now they reside at NJA too.

Give Flex a try. NetJets won me over in the interview. They actually were interested in me and acted like we were equals instead of the "why should I bestow my great job to you?" attitude of some, not all, but some airlines.

Good luck and I hope you are happy with your choice.
