Flight Options Questions

Greetings. I have an interview in the near future with Flight Options. This is my first interview with a Fractional. I have a few questions that I was not able to get answered over the phone. Here it goes:
What is the upgrade time?
How is the training in DFW?
How much is the UHC insurance for a family of four?
Is there any idea of when a TA might be presented to the pilot group?
What direction is the company going? Growth or just hiring for attrition?

I am sure I can think of some more, but, I have a short night. I am hoping this is a good move for my family. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you try the Google search?

No I did not try that. I will give it a try and see if there is any recent information that might help me with those and any other questions.

I reviewed what the google search had to offer. I did not see any recent information that may help me figure out how things are going over there. Hopefully someone from Flight Options will respond to this thread. Thanks again for the help.

go to flightinfo.com.

There are pages and pages of info. Haven't seen anything good posted yet.

FLOPS is in the middle of having a union voted on property. They are trying to negotiate a contract, however progress is very (read stopped) slow.

HIG, recently bought FLOPS. They are the same investment company that ownes AmeriJet. I know first hand Amerijet is one of the scummiest airlines ever. I would be VERY cautious considering going to FLOPS.

Here is a cut and paste from flightinfo.com that you might find interesting:

Game On

Well, we heard it from the cats mouth during last nights Flops union telephone call in. The company is calling our Bluff.

If your not paying your dues....Its gonna be mighty uncomfortable being on the road for 8 days.

To you Flops pilots not paying your dues....GAME ON

To you New hires.....You made your bed the morning you told Flops "YES ill take the job"....no bichn....GAME ON

To Flops management, You don't want to pay industry wages, fine, your gonna get Kmart work out of us. ...GAME ON

To the industry, Flops might be here today, But if managements "Game ON" plays out, we will not be here tomorrow......GAME ON

B19 get your resume together, might be #3 for you. Your right, "the company will get the union it deserves".

GAME ON, GAME ON

Can't remember the last time I read anything positive/good about FLOPS. I noticed one of their guys asking about a regional airline (upgrades, bases, etc). That says a lot

I've got something positive to say about FLOPS. Everybody should at least interview with them. One of the HR girls has some puppies that are worth the trip to Cleveland to look at. I guess she didn't mind me looking at them the whole time, I never got slapped (or am I just that smooth?). Besides, she had them propped up where you couldn't miss them. Wow!

I will attend the interview with an open mind. It will be my first interview with a Fractional carrier. Also, my first interview in six years. No matter the outcome, it will be a learning experience.

Probably a good idea to work on interview skills.

Keep an open mind but understand that FLOPS has a great pilot group but it is considered the worst fractional in the industry from an employment perspective and the attrition rate is very high. The CEO is combative and he had at least one (maybe two) newhires fired in the last training class because they asked about the low salaries relative to Netjets, Citationshares and Flexjet. They were canned for asking questions because they were not "in line" with his way of thinking. Do you want to work for someone like that?

Seriously, forward your resume to Netjets, Flexjet and Citationshares (even if you get hired by FLOPS). Again, not many people are applying to FLOPS for a reason - its standard is FAR BELOW all of the other players.

Check this link out and compare the numbers for yourself (understand that Flexjet and Citationshares will have raises for newhires reaching roughly $60K that actually start in April and May and those new numbers might not be reflected yet in these pages):

Go in with an open mind but beware of an overly-optimistic sell on their part (100 new Phenom 300 jets on the way, etc., etc.). They need pilots bad for a reason - they are losing pilots every day...
