Default DoD to Jepp

This one is for all.

I'm a military guy looking to step in to the fractional arena. I have been looking at all the fractional companies. Especially Net Jets and CS... My times are pretty strong but I would like some suggestions for folks who are prior Military who can tell me exactly how to prep for the technical side of these interviews. I can tell you exactly how the climb gradients work on my airplane and what are WX mins are. What is the best way to really beef up on the 135/121 rules and how to prep. I'm guessing the 11-217 really isn't applicable!!

Thanks in advance

Go to aviationinterviews.com. Read the FARs. The Jepps are way more user friendly than the dod plates. Do all of that and you will be fine.

There are some ppt slides on the AIS website about Jepps plates and FAR stuff, pretty good mil to civilian assistance. "Everything explained for the Professional Pilot" is a great book. I googled it and found it for 40 bucks at mypilotstore.com

I second the recommendation for this book. It is great and easy to read. Learn the O2 requirements for 135 and 91k for Fracs interviews cold. After that, aviationinterviews should be your best resource. Spend the 10 dollars.

I've been hired at both companies and am prior military, so I can help you out. If you're coming right from the military to an interview at CS, you aren't required to know 135/91k. Just know your airplane and regs (WX mins, climb grads, approaches, SIDS, etc.). If you're going to a NJ interview, they will give you a 20 question test that is full of 135 questions and might ask you some 135 questions during the technical interview depending on the interviewers. "Everything Explained..." is a great resource I've been told, but you don't really need it. Grab a highlighter and start reading the free FAR/AIM that you get in the AF. Don't study FAR 121 if you're only looking at fractionals. Go to your squadron's Jepp library and study the Intro/Legend information. This is probably the hardest part to prep for since you don't use them that much in the mil. Most of the questions on the NJ test can be found at aviationinterviews.com. You can sign up for free for limited access or pay $7-8 for unlimited access for a month. This site is invaluable for both companies. LORs help to get you to the interview, but do nothing for you once you're there (I didn't have any). Hope that helps.

Default MIL to Jepps

Thanks for the info folks. I, too, have been trying to get a handle on the transition to Jepps. I went to their website and started to print out some of the articles one of their guys did over an extended period of articles. Definitely would prefer the condensed version! I also grabbed an old hard cover Jepps book from flight planning to review the intro & legends.

What is the AIS site mentioned above?

THANX SDJ

If you are off base/no cac access- this is a starter, though I don't see the actual Jeppesen slides.

The Jepps in 2007 were part of IRC hot topics:

Should get you close.
