Any of you Avantair folks fly out of CDW? We base our 210 there, and Avantair has a nice FBO there too.

Came back from HXD on 8/14 on the LOC 22 approach and got in without issue. I mean, it's just a 210!

We pulled up to the Avantair hangar as opposed to pulling in our parking spot (we'll let the rampers park it as it is raining). We went to get the cars, and the ramper told us to pull them on the left side of the plane (that works, that is where the baggage door is!), he said "we have 4 Avantis coming in". Maybe...

We saw the first one go missed on the LOC 22, and as we left the airport so did the second. I don't know about the others.

Not a day at the beach at CDW on 22 with a tail wind, low clouds, wet runway, etc.

I give you folks credit dealing with CDW when the WX is not cooperating.

I recall when Avantair had some offices at the MacDan hangar there, but they have since left. Otherwise, they run a nice FBO at CDW.

As to working for them; that is what it is, but they have a nice facility at CDW and do a great job. The late Larry Lorenzo would be shocked at what they did at his old hangar!

Perhaps they should consider more FBO ops to expand and bring in more $?

Any news on hiring or future interviews? Or those east coast bases opening for hiring? How about the new aircraft delivery time frame?

Well, seeing that they just wacked 20 people (not pilots) from the company citing the "uncertain economic recovery," it may not be for awhile.

Another new hire class starts soon, interviews continue and 2 new aircraft on property.

We have not really seen any movement on the seniority list since late May other than it got longer at the bottom. Where as other companies furloughed their pilots, our company allowed normal attrition to lower our ratios during the economic downturn. The new schedules started in July (we have 3 now) required ops to raise the pilot ratios. In the past 2 years while the other frax fleets shrank, ours grew. We got 4 new Avanti II's in 2010 and 2 this year so far. I heard there is 1 more coming soon.

New airplane arrived in the hangar Friday night. I hear they are putting together another new hire class to crew it.


No evidence that I can find. Last time the rumor was Avantair+Flight Ops. And before that Citation Shares, NetJets. XO Jet & Plane Sense. That just about covers them all. No end to the rumors.

Any new hiring news from Avantair for 2012?

I read further back in this thread that they're hiring internal referrals only. Is that still the case? Also, how strict are they with the turbine time minimums? And is there a certain amount of total time that might make up for the lack of turbine time?
