It was 7 weeks to the day for me from phone interview to CMH invite...

Hang in there and be patient! NO NEWS is usually GOOD NEWS!

lizizpilot 09-02-2008 01:47 PM

Yesterday was 7 weeks for me since my phone interview. Since the June 24th phone interview guys got their invite to CMH a couple weeks ago, it doesn't sounds like anyone else has gotten any good news

dingo222 09-13-2008 07:01 AM

8 weeks and still waiting. Anyone else hear any good news?

Namreg 09-16-2008 07:49 AM

This week 12 for me, still nothing. I'm hoping this will all work itself out soon.

A320Flyer 09-16-2008 07:43 PM

5th week from the phone interview and nothing. If it takes much longer just to get an interview invitation 2 months away, I might be somewhere in the Middle East. Need a job ASAP and got Qatar, Gulf Air and a Federal job interview coming up really soon.
Really want the NJA job but kinda sucks to wait this long in limbo...

EMBFlyer 09-17-2008 12:25 PM

Just passed 10 weeks. Anybody have any new info? Man, this is frustrating!

12 weeks since the in-person interview in CMH. Nothing yet.

Learflyer 09-17-2008 03:44 PM

Even the folks who are waiting for their CIA interview results are saying "It took NJA how long?"

Are you serious? Is there a long wait after doing the interview and sim eval in CMH? Please tell me you misspelled 12 weeks...

Namreg 09-17-2008 05:53 PM

I have no insider information and this is all just my opinion but I can't imagine this being the norm. I'm thinking that its all backlogged because of the changes that went on or are going on at NJs.
I'm hoping it will all be resolved shortly and these long waits will be a thing of the past.
There has to be a reason no one has received any information for a while now.
Best Wishes.

FlyinFoSheezy 09-17-2008 05:59 PM

Do your kids a favor and submit the NetJets application while they are young.

Wait a year or two to get a phone interview.

Wait another 6 months to get an invitation to CMH.

Wait another 4 months to get a class date.

Wait another 4 months to get on the line.

Wait another 5 years for an upgrade to Captain.

Talk about being dedicated to the company :-)

Sailaway 09-17-2008 06:21 PM

Hey, when you get a class date they start paying. And on the 18 day scale too. Who cares how long it takes to get on the line? And upgrades come when they come. It does not matter what someone told you when you got hired.

FlyinFoSheezy 09-17-2008 06:26 PM

Patience is a virtue. NJ is a good company. Pay is good. Long-term and stable employer.

All positives in my book. This thread was just overflowing with "i waited this long" comments.

DMBFAN 09-17-2008 08:11 PM

I know that there is a list of phone interview questions on another thread, but I was wondering if anyone has recently had a phone interview with the new members on the recruitment team. My phone interview is comming up in October, origionally it was supposed to be in August. Anybody have a recent phone interview? If so have things changed at all since over the summer.

That's the point. Many people that are trying to get on with NJA need an answer in reasonable time. Many of us have interviews with overseas carriers that make us sign a contract if hired, among other opportunities. Having to wait 2-3 months after a phone interview just to hear a yes or a no is kind of weird, isn't it? How hard is it to make a decision? Maybe a week or two would be reasonable.

laserman2431 09-19-2008 04:48 AM

It does seem like they take a long time to make decisions. However, considering the current job market, they can pretty much do what they want.

I guess the part that bugs me is that a person on another forum who claims to be involved with hiring at NJ said they are making offers to only 10% - 20% of people who come to CMH for the personal interview. I guess it's just another indication of the sad state of the current US job market. There can be considerable cost and inconvenience associated with going to the "in person." Travel, hotel, meals, vacation time, prep stress, sim prerp, etc. Of course, nobody is being forced to go. i just wonder what they are finding out after the 45 minute chat and a sim ride? Especially after the extensive pre-screening process.

The application process seems pretty goofy too. They revamped the .pdf application form but it is still necessary to use PDFill or similar. Why not just get an on-line form like everybody else. Another thing that I find goofy is on the little customer service essay page, they want to know the county in which the customer service was provided. I know it's not a big deal but when they redid the form, did anyone ask "why do we have county on there?" Especially when they have ciy and state. It just seems odd.

zach141 09-20-2008 04:11 AM

Okay, I'll join in the app questions

Anybody:

I sent the paper old paper app in July 31. Nothing heard. Do I need to go ahead and send the new PDF filler app in? i.e. are they tossing the paper ones out?

Thanks.

Zach

Not 100% sure on what NJ is doing but it wouldn't hurt you to do the online app also. Especially since you have yet to hear anything.
Best of Luck.

p3pilot 09-20-2008 10:34 AM

I sent in the new application which is new on the website, and got a canned e-mail back. Anyone know how if NetJets has discarded all of the old applications and how long is it before guys are getting the e-mail to set up the phone interview call or interview e-mail.

p3,

I was curious about the same thing. NJ rec'd my paper app in March, and I did get an email response stating so. I have not rec'd an email saying that I need to re-apply using the online form...but, then again, the way they operate makes me wonder if they would send an email out to everyone notifying them that their app will be discarded. At the very least, they should offer some guidance on their website.

Last week I emailed an update to pilot recruitment and rec'd a generic email response "thanking me for my interest." Personally, I think that unless you've been given a "thumbs-up" after your in-person interview in CMH, you are truly lost in the shuffle.

dingo222 09-21-2008 06:00 AM

10 weeks since i had the phone interview and no response. 10 weeks. my wife is going to have her baby quicker than NJ can say yes or no to a 20 minute phone conversation. This goes beyond "selective" and into rude and bad business practices.

QSflyer 09-22-2008 06:28 PM

Hey all,

I'm currently a Netjets pilot, been here just over 3 years now. The hiring has completely changed since when I was hired. To be honest, I really doubt I would get hired right now!

There are a lot of us, including myself, who are embarassed about how our hiring department has changed. In their defense, the one lady who did most of our selection for interviews left a month or so ago. I think she had a "system" and ever since then things were shuffled beyond repair. That's just my guess though. They really need to stop accepting resumes for a while to get caught up. But, they didn't ask me.

All I can say is keep the faith, and hope persistance pays off. I've recommended 4 people in the last two years and only 1 has gotten hired. Whoever stated that once you get to an interview everyone is set to "0" is correct. You are on your own.

While I'm not involved with the union, or company for that matter (other than flying), I can give you some advice that may help get your resume to the top if you don't have a LOR:

#1 Emphasize customer service. During your interview tell them how you have gone above and beyond. Get creative and ready to improvise when given scenarios. Remember, the customer is always right (except when it comes to safety of flight issues i.e. wx, etc)

#2 Get some PIC time, even if you have to fly for free.

#3 Get your degree done. I finished mine through Utah Valley University. It's cheaper than Riddle and much easier (yes it's accredited). Aviation University - Online Aviation Courses

#4 Do some research about Netjets. When interviewed, tell them what you did. Tell them you subscribed to willflyforfood or whatever aviation interview gouge sites there are. Be ready to name some corporate executives. I'm not saying they quiz you, but impress them with your knowledge of the system.

#5 REAPPLY IF REJECTED! Peristance pays, I promise.

With what I know about this company, I would be sending in resumes for the next 10 years to get a job here. I love it here.

Good luck and God bless.....

MiserDD 09-23-2008 04:35 AM

Welcome aboard. I’m sure once you hit the magic “ten” posts you will have hundreds of PMs looking or LORs.

EMBFlyer 09-24-2008 05:41 PM

I e-mailed the Talent Acquisition department last Friday to check on my status. The e-mailed me back today, basically thanking me for taking the time to do the phone interview in July. The apologized for the amount of time it's taken thus far. They said they hope to have communication out to me shortly.

It's not a "no".

MiserDD 09-24-2008 05:50 PM

With as much emphasis as they place on customer service, you’d think they’d show a little to possible future employees. How hard is it to say “Yes” or “No” after they’ve interviewed you?

DMBFAN 10-07-2008 07:16 AM

Well, I just had my phone interview with netjets finally, after being rescheduled twice since July. The questions are pretty much the same as what is posted in this thread. It was a very relaxed phone call, even though I was still nervous. She could not give me a timeline on when the next classes will be, or how many new hires they will have in 2009, but she said that they are still growing. I guess I will start the clock like everybody else. Good luck.

Hi there!
I interviewed June 12th and got the bad letter almost 3 months later. I'm reapplying in December... Do you think Netjets will grant me another interview? Thanks in advance if you reply.

alwaysflying 10-07-2008 07:19 PM

This is for anyone keeping stats:

Did the phone interview mid September. Received the no thanks email yesterday, October 6.

Will reapply in 6 months, though I don't know that it will help.

Anybody know if they give second phone interviews?

ThreeGreens 10-14-2008 05:03 PM

November 11th 2008 will be 11 months for me since my application was accepted; time to update. Are you guys using the "update PDF form" they attached with the acceptance email or are they using something different? Do you have to reapply?

thanks

What a good attitude you must have for waiting 3 months for a rejection letter and then asking when you can reapply! You should have the job just based on your spirit. Good luck to you.

I applied to NJA last December and interviewed in April. After many months I was told I was hired, then maybe hired, then hired again. As of this date I still have no training date and generally have to take it upon myself every couple months to check in to ensure that their plans are still to hire me. My friends that fly for the company say that even though getting in the door is troublesome, once you're working for them they treat you with the utmost respect and dignity. I am happy to hear that and don't doubt it is the case.

I agree with the person who questioned why a company so bent on and known for outstanding customer service would treat future employees (or applicants) in this way. I'm convinced that it isn't intentional and that it's in large part due to losing Derinda. At the same time, they've had 6 months now to get their act together and they haven't. 3 months for a rejection letter is ridiculous. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people who are forming a first impression right now of their potential employer. How many are going to walk away with a sour opinion of NetJets? Worse for the company, how many are going to come to work for NetJets with a memory of being jerked around and neglected for months? It's not the beginning of a beautiful relationship between labor and management.

I wonder what Mr. Santulli would say if he knew the process that current applicants are going through. I can't imagine he'd be happy with it, and I hope for all involved that NJA gets through this period soon.

The company president spoke to the recurrent class this morning, and said they're well aware that they've dropped the ball when it comes to applicants and interviewees this year. The hiring department was, to put it quite simply, "overwhelmed" by the flood of applications.

They're working on a true online system that they're hoping to have online by the end of November or beginning of December that will make for a much better flow of information between the company and applicants.

I know the disappointment of waiting months for a rejection letter from a company I really wanted to work for. They're working on it, because they don't want anyone walking away feeling like they weren't treated well, hired or not.

I hope that'll give some insight.

Soul,

I'm in basically the same position as you. I interviewed in June and have been told I have made the cut. When I talked to Rachelle in Sept she told me they would be calling every month to give us an update, but she didn't call in Oct. My question is how exactly do you contact them, email, call... and do they mind if you do? I don't want to be "that guy", the bothersome one, but I would like to talk to them soon.

Thanks for any info you can pass along.

Soulshine, GoMach2,
I hope you guys get class dates soon. I know you are going to love it once you get started. Hang in there; it is worth it. Call me if you guys make it to Chucktown.

Since she called you, call Rachel back. Email would be fine too. PM me if you need the info.
Thanks QZ. I'll let you know!

Get used to the wait. I am on 4 months with no news after an interview!
