NJA training contract

I have read that you do not need to resign your seniority number if furloughed from an airline, but I wanted to know do you have to sign a training contract?
Also could someone explain how the reserve system works? I know it's 18 days on but how many days in a row before days off. Is it possible to commute to this type of reserve system? How long does reserve last?

All new hires are on the 18 day schedule. Usually it is 5 or 6 days on the road, then 4 or 5 days off. They post a forecast schedule a couple of months ahead of time, then the firm schedule the month prior. You will get 4 "H" days (mandatory days off ) per month that you can place anywhere. Minimum time between tours is 3 days.
