How much vacation, sick, and personal time do you get?

First year FO 1 week vacation which basically equals 3 weeks off due to schedule, sick leave is accured at decimal rate per days worked, not sure how much personal time, I guess depends on situation.

What are the average flight times in these things and is there a lav or is it a week of being dehydrated every other week? Just curious, my past experience on small jets is that the flights turned into bladder control marathons upwards of 4 hours

Bigger cabin than you think. I've toured a few of them. Cabin has a lav and it is bigger than a Beechjet cabin. You will probably do a number of 3-4 hour flights (BED to FXE) but you will have a lav to cr@p in if necessary. Check it out:

Add to that the Pro Line 21 in the Avanti IIs and you have an advanced cr@tch rocket that will garner all of the attention at small airports. With PIC upgrade times running 12-18 months for people who meet the PIC minimums, I think Avantair would be a good choice for many. Given that it is cheaper than most small-jet competitors out there, the market size is bigger for potential customers who want good performance and efficiency. Sure, Avantair ain't perfect from what I hear, but things have improved with time (put better policies and procedures in place) compared with how they were a year or two ago (typical growing pains). Taking 3-4 hours on the "hebrew highway" is not a crotch rocket. But, I get your drift.

It ain't no Citation X, but I hear it is fun to fly around the pattern - it has great takeoff performance. I always know when a P180 is approaching because I can hear it 5 miles out. It sounds like a P51 Mustang.

Learflyer, were you considering Avantair at one time? Do they not have a domicile near you?

Yes I was, but I reluctantly turned down the interview after trying to crunch numbers for first year pay, etc. I would've loved to work there. I hope i was able to give someone else a chance.

is Avantair still interviewing or are they done for the year ?

Interview and class dates are all filled till the end of the year. Hiring is projected to continue though. HR department swamped with resumes so they said expect delays for both "thanks and no thanks".

Havent been to HQ lately but training is being done in both aircraft and sim, classes scheduled in snyc with deliveries. 8-10 new hires or so per class.

You're not going to do many (if any) 4 hour legs. the longest typical legs are 3.5-3.7 hrs. not too bad, yes there is a lav in the back. most guys avoid using it esp. with pax onboard but i think it's more a pride thing than anything else. if you need to use it then you use it.
