Default Can NetJets Pilots Not Play Nice?

Alrighty...after giving dozens of rides to NetJets Pilots over the last couple of years, I can not remember even a single one acknowledging me or my crew's mere existence...Today flying into ORD, for example, I smiled and nodded to the NetJets Captain walking off my aircraft and still he did not so much as look up!

So I'm just curious, NetJets folks, why no respect? Does it matter that you're not jumpseating, but paying passengers? You're in uniform. You're Pilots. Many of you are former RJ-Drivers...and besides, we're all flying these "little airplanes!"

We're just looking for the same respect we give you is all. Y'all don't have to kill with kindness, just a friendly nod of the head, shake of the hand...!

Somebody didn't get enough hugs from daddy growing up. Maybe your landing sucked a$$ and we can't stand to look at you. Maybe you got us to the gate 3 minutes too early to get overtime. Maybe we are too tall to stand fully upright in the RJ and can only acknowledge your shoes. Don't you know pilots are the worst passengers........

Actually, my landing was fantastic...greased the 1000-ft markers, cracked the buckets, and coasted down to M3 off RWY 10...

Thanks for the sarcasm though. Strange, strange bunch y'all are LoL!!

Default Jumpseat

I am a retired United pilot. I have not ever needed to ride the jumpseat since I have been at Netjets, but I would like to apologize for the Netjets Captain who was so insensitive. I remember when I was a new hire at United and got bumped off the jump seat because some Captain did not want to pay the $9.00 to buy a standby ticket. I was forced to take a later flight and sweat out the fact that if I did not get to work I could be fired. I sympathize with you. Where are people's manners.

If was was looking down maybe he didn't see you slight head nod
Did you SAY "hello" or "did you enjoy the ride captain"?
I wonder if it has anything to do with the years and years of being looked down upon by the -121 pilots since corporate pilots were looked at like ugly red-headed step-children?

I don't know......I just recently found out that they wear their uniforms on the plane. I would have figured that they looked like every other normal pax going to work. there was a very long and involved thread on them "reporting" to the cockpit crew when flying to work a month or more ago.

It will be interesting to hear the replies.
For what it is worth - I'm not wearing a uniform but it seems that if I ever would like to stop by the cockpit to say "hi" that I either get a disinterested look or a nasty threatening look from the FA!

Maybe we're afraid of being tasered for even looking in the cockpit!

You say, "giving dozens of rides," as if you're doing it out of kindness. We're paying passengers, not jumpseaters, and not non-revs. Indeed, we're usually some of the highest-paying, last-minute, one-way coach customers you have.

Today flying into ORD, for example, I smiled and nodded to the NetJets Captain walking off my aircraft and still he did not so much as look up!
Maybe he didn't see you nod and smile? Maybe his assignment changed and he was reading his pager? Maybe he was dog tired after a long day and didn't feel "chatty"? Maybe his back wouldn't straighten out from that godawful RJ seat? Maybe he's just a jerk? We have a few; every company does.

So I'm just curious, NetJets folks, why no respect? Does it matter that you're not jumpseating, but paying passengers? You're in uniform. You're Pilots.
Yes, as a matter of fact, it does matter that we're not jumpseating. We're in uniform because we're required to be.

Look, I'll have a kind word for any crewmember I run into, be it a pilot or FA, but I'm not going to go out of my way to introduce myself, block the aisle, ask for a ride, etc. I usually say "hi" on the way in, and "thanks" on the way out, to any crewmembers I happen to pass. I do that whether or not I'm in uniform.

Don't take it as a personal affront. When we ride on the airlines, we're processed like cattle, just as your other customers are. An airline terminal automatically means we're not in the best of moods!

If you pay for your ticket, I don't expect you to come up front to "ask" for a ride and say hi. Heck, none of the other customers seem to give a crap that there are people sitting up front... unless they have something smart to say.
