FLOPS Furloughs

Just heard from a friend...104 pilots furloughed from FLOPS. Said some were notified by text message. Nice....

Best of luck to those who lost their jobs.

Well this sucks, don't even know what to say, I don't think you guys need any sympatethic comments right now, all I can say is best of luck.

Talk about timing, holidays around the around the corner and nobody hiring. This might sound weird, but the only confort we can get out of this might be the fact that everything is in turmoil, not just the air industry.

as far as how many pilots they have, my guess 500-550, somehwere around there.

Is that 104 on top of the 70 already on furlough? Are they all at once or in batches over a few months?

Does that include the 70 hostages?

Hey guys,

Does that number include the 70 hostages that had just been recalled? Also, were they furloughed by seniority or more of the same pick and chose?

Either way, that $ucks! Sorry to hear that. The best of luck to you all!

Very sorry to hear about this. Sign of the times. There are rumors at FlexJet about furloughs too......I hope not.

I wish you gals/guys the best of luck.

Are the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funds available in situations like this for retraining, or was the spirit of it geared more toward the 121 folks??

WIA is for everyone. Not just airline guys. Check with your local office. My state has two pages of authorized type ratings...most are 121 airframes, but there are some corporate airframes on their too.

Two pages of type ratings?? That's awesome. My state had zero unless the training center was in state, which there are none... Would you mind me asking you which state you reside? We all might want to move there...:(

I was told the WIA, along with unemployment benefits come from the State that the company was based in.......... At least that is what Ohio and Florida told me for ABX (based in Wilmington Ohio)

WIA funding runs from July till June. In my state, funds are getting thin till next year.
