That would be the worst thing that I think managment could do. Loose all the cash that is around the holiday season just to be able to not recall a few guys back that they dont want. I am sure that is not the only reason, but wow.

I did hear that TC said that if and when they hire again then all of the new guys will be based in New York. That would not be cool unless you live there.

Presumably those reHIRED would be first year pilots, with pay and benefits appropriate for their status

I read this in one of the above statements---what do you mean "appropriate for their status"?

I am one of the furloughed Flexjet guys. Am I the only one having trouble getting an interview at the Regionals? I assume they do not want to hire fuloughed guys who may up and leave as soon as they get recalled. What is a furloughed pilot supposed to do to get an interview? It is frustrating watching the low time Cessna instructors with no turbine time getting interviews when I am way more qualified. Any suggestions???

I too got ignored by regionals. The best theory I can see is that they want to hire lower time pilots who need 5 years before they have enough time to move to the majors. If a furloughed fractional guy goes to a regional, in a year or less they can be ready to head off to Delta or United. A perfect Catch 22: too many hours for the regionals, not enough for a major.

First year pay and vacation, no access to the defined benefit retirement plan, unvested in the 401(k) plan - and if Hikoki is right, forced to move to Teterboro if you want a job.

So did you end up getting a call for some sort of flying job? I hope that the rest of the 85 guys/gals can find something because flex is not going to be calling anytime soon. I wish they would.

I got a job with ASA, but it was a cold call with no internal recs or job fair help. I live in ATL and they said that helped. A lot of the low time pilots that are getting interviews have multiple internal recs. I was the only one that interviewed that day without an internal rec.

And what is the deal with Flexjet having a 2 year recall when everyone else seems to have an unlimited time recall?? How does Flexjet get away with that type of management and still not have a union. I am not saying that I am for or against unions---but it seems unfair that they treat their pilots so differently on such an important issue. They give me this 2 year upgrade talk on my interview and tell me big pay raises are to follow. So I end up leaving a good job for Flexjet---only to be furloughed 18 months later. Now I can not get an interview during this 2 year recall agreement period. I assume the 2 years will pass---I will get dropped off the recall list--I will then be looking for a job with no flying experience during the past 2 years. Flexjet will be hiring people from the same regionals I came from 2 years ago and paying them 1st year pay. Netjets and Citation Air will be recalling all their furloughed people back to appropriate pay based on seniority like most every other company does. This is just me blowing off steam and it may or may not happen like this---who knows. It just seems like the 85 of us that chose Flexjet may get a raw deal compared to the rest of the aviation industry. We chose Flex--but they may not choose us back. Frustrated.
