And what is the deal with Flexjet having a 2 year recall when everyone else seems to have an unlimited time recall?? How does Flexjet get away with that type of management and still not have a union. I am not saying that I am for or against unions---but it seems unfair that they treat their pilots so differently on such an important issue. They give me this 2 year upgrade talk on my interview and tell me big pay raises are to follow. So I end up leaving a good job for Flexjet---only to be furloughed 18 months later. Now I can not get an interview during this 2 year recall agreement period. I assume the 2 years will pass---I will get dropped off the recall list--I will then be looking for a job with no flying experience during the past 2 years. Flexjet will be hiring people from the same regionals I came from 2 years ago and paying them 1st year pay. Netjets and Citation Air will be recalling all their furloughed people back to appropriate pay based on seniority like most every other company does. This is just me blowing off steam and it may or may not happen like this---who knows. It just seems like the 85 of us that chose Flexjet may get a raw deal compared to the rest of the aviation industry. We chose Flex--but they may not choose us back. Frustrated.

- we did get a 43% pay increase in May 2008;
- we got a big settlement check at the time of the furlough. The company's legal obligation to us was absolutely zero.
- the current first year pay rate is higher than the second year pay rate when we left, so even if you came back as Year 1 it's a raise.
- the pilot group will not support a union, so why should management act as if there is one?
I don't know the statistics, but I can tell you that many of the 85 have found flying jobs. Most have probably taken a step back in pay, and most would probably go back to Flexjet in a heartbeat. But they are flying.
The market is starting to come back. I would encourage you to look at smaller operators, jobs that might pay a little less, companies that might be a little less stable. There are opportunities out there.
Good luck.

I don't think that there are too many guys out there that have found flying work that they consider real flying. I bet we will all be surprised to see how many there are still out of work, or at least a flying job.

I have been keeping up with 10 guys from the 85. Only one has gotten a good flying job (nascar driver) and that only happened last month. Another one is flying part time freight ($10,000 a year) and another is a used car salesman (not making any money). The other 7 and myself are still sending resumes, clicking apps and hoping for a call.
Some smarta$$ asked earlier who was stopping me from getting a job. I guess the answer is, "I don't know---It is not from lack of effort". Maybe the economy--maybe the fact the market is flooded with furloughed pilots--who knows who is stopping me.
Those with jobs---congratulations and keep up the good work. Those like me who have no job---keep your head up and keep looking--something will happen sooner or later. Those who post positive or relative comments---I appreciate hearing from you. Those who post smarta$$ or negative comments are probably the ones no one likes flying with---we all know the kind. Have a great day everyone.
