Default CEO Pay During Tough Times

Do you think that CEO's should take some financial cuts as well during these tough times to help save a few pilot jobs? Do you have any idea what your CEO makes each year?

Default CEO pay

Right now our CEO (also a pilot) makes 0. That wasn't how he intended it, but it is what happened as we try to weather this storm. I think every CEO needs to evaluate company pay, including his own, as objectively as possible and make decisions that are good for the company. In most cases, however, I don't think Pilots should know what the CEO makes. That's just not generally good for business.

If the company is a publically traded company (ie stock can be purchased), executive pay and compensation can be noted in documents released to investors and the public each year. This is a required portion of the documents.

Why is it a bad idea for pilots to know what pay the top tier is making?

Our CEO founded and owns our small private company.

I have no idea what he makes (and wouldn't ask because its rude and none of my damn business) but figure he garners most of his wealth from the company that he puts 80hr+/week into, and I have no heartburn whatsoever with whatever he makes.

To answer the OP, no I don't think the CEO should take paycuts "to save a few pilot jobs" - they should do it to 1. save ANY jobs and/or 2. save the company.

Our ceo gave himself a 700% raise for next 3 yrs while asking everyone to take a pay cut. Fun to be brown.

Got ya beat chief! I hear of a CEO taking a 3300% pay raise while pilots took a 40-48% cut, lost pensions, etc etc? Just sayin'.

I'm sure the board of directors had to approve of this.

Is it a public company? If so, you should know what his/her compensation is.
In regards to pay cuts, a lot of factors, ranging from out of company control to how money gets spent internally, come in to play.

Either way, most of the time when a CEO takes a large pay cut, it's more symbolic than anything else. Rally the troops, keep the morale up etc...
