Was talking with an FAA guy the other day who said NetJets will be handing in their operating certificate for the Savannah base/station, closing up shop there and moving all the planes to another base (can't remember which). He said they were doing it because it wasn't economically feasible to operate that station anymore. Maybe this is old news but it was new to me.

It ain't about money. It's about company politics.

Predictable future - now there is an oxymoron. That being said it sounds like you guys are running pretty lean right now - its easy to furlough when you are fat, much harder when you are running a lean operation.
Good luck and hang in there.

There may be a little politics, but it is mostly about the money. Sokol is the head bean counter and he thinks it costs more beans to have separate operations. The union contract did not require Savannah to close, just the pilots to be assimilated. The problem I see is that most of the ground personnel who were really good at running the big Gs have refused the move and NJA operations is at the minimum going to have a time period of lots of mistakes in the operations side that cost a lot more beans and maybe some customer loyalty (more beans) if the problems persist. I was hoping at least all the schedulers would make the move and teach the NJA folks a thing or two, but it appears that isn't going to be the case.

Too bad the pros from NJI won't be coming up to teach the NJA peasants how it's done.

Good luck
I hope things do get better for you guys. I donīt know if itīs a lack of concern or what, but my limited experience with the company made me happy to move on. I was ĻhiredĻ in spring 2008, watched people interviewed after me go to work, never got updates, couldnīt squeeze out any information, and eventually stopped getting phone calls or emails returned. A completely unprofessional experience from a supposedly class outfit. I was happy to hear that my friends still with the company felt they were being treated well, and I hope thatīs still true. It turns out I was lucky not to go to work, as furloughs followed. I could not comment on Sokol or any other senior management, but HR as far as hiring (post Derinda I guess), amounted to a complete clown act. Hope thatīs changed.
