beentheredonethat,

I have to ask you a question:

When you post these things, I know you think you are helping out your ex-coworkers at Avantair. But did it ever occur to you that by giving partial information that it could needlessly hurt the very friends you are trying to help?

I dont know you personally, but I am a captain at Avantair. In fact, I am on the PAC (pilot advisory committee), and if ANY pilot knows whats really going on it would be us.

I don't think you know the negative impact your posts make sometimes. I know you don't have a beef with me personally. I'm just trying to make a living for myself and my family. And I appreciate the fact you are trying to help, but it is misguided.

If what you were saying was 100 percent true, that would be one thing! But it isn't. During this whole processes not even Mgmt knew what the final result was going to be, let alone the PAC, let alone a line pilot, let alone an interpretation of what you heard or read. And when our owners check the internet to see how our company is doing and they see some of the misconceptions you have, it threatens my livelihood. i can only imagine you are doing this unintentionally, but you threaten my livelihood. Is it such a bad thing to investigate all our options to see what will be acceptable to the pilot group and make us a stronger company? Sure we have shelved a few ideas, and thats a good thing! That means Mgmt is listening to its workforce, but is persistant in its persuit to position itself for future growth and prosperity. By the way, I am not a cool-aid kinda guy, we have plenty of things to iron out... but there is dialogue. For a non-union shop I think we are a trend setter! Until the dust settles NO ONE KNOWS what the final deal will be. its still a work in progress today!

I know you don't want to hurt a fellow pilot, so please, stop posting things you "heard" because in all honesty almost everything I've seen from your posts is way off... and my family really needs me to provide for them. I'm a new dad, 4 month old daughter.... im a real person! Can you please take that into account before posting?

Thank You!

Dear 180,

Other Avant pilots are posting here (anonymously, of course becasue they fear for their jobs) asking for clarification of information. Perhaps you should clear the air and post what is actually reality. Easy solve......

I am glad you admit that the things you post are not reality. but i agree with 180360, you could just stop posting lies and misleading out of context post. the reason other avantair pilots are posting here is because of the bs you post.

what good are you doing by making hard working pilots/families worried over some of the stuff you say?

I don't fear for my job and I post anonymously. It is an internet message board. You haven't posted your real name. Do you fear for your job?
APC has usernames like the military has callsigns.

I think you are reading too much into it.

I have posted my name, address, and phone number, just not on YOUR forum. Thanks for asking.

180360,

Good for you for dedicating the time to be on the PAC Board. I know that it is a thankless job, and very aggravating at times as well. I know you have absolutely no power or control over what management does. On the day that I gave my notice, all 5 PAC Board members (not the company) asked me what it would take to make me stay. I told them that it was simply a matter of PAY. I told them no hard feelings or regrets….but I couldn’t be a budget-pilot for 4-5 years in the right seat. Truthfully, I appreciated the fact that they tried to keep me there.

I will try to answer your question as honestly as possible. Of course I think about what I post here. When I turned in my 2-week notice everything was fine. I simply chose not to stay at a company that was now looking at 4-5 year upgrades at the pay rate of a secretary. That was simply a measure of my personal worth. I do not fault other FO’s for having a different standard than mine. To each his own.

(I had been gracious enough to withhold some things from you guys, but you just gave me a platform to say it now.) What YOU and everyone else who reads this forum is unaware of…..is that Avantair actually laid me off. I gave my notice like a good person does, even though it made my final duty week fall during the Easter holiday. I chose to honor my word with my 2-week notice even though I would miss Easter with my own family. On my final week I wasn’t feeling 100% so I called in (e-mail) sick the afternoon before day-1 to let them know. I also stated that I would keep them posted as to my condition. I wasn’t totally in-bed-sick, so I thought I might be feeling better in a few hours and still be able to fly on day 1. I was doing everything I could to help your beloved company.

How did Avantair respond to me trying to use one of my EARNED sick days? They laid me off within 30 minutes. Avantair gets rid of people so they can’t use the benefits that have been earned. That part didn’t bug me as much as the fact that their actions cost me 2 weeks pay that I had counted on when I gave my 2-week notice. Perhaps your CEO should “take care” of the person who cheated an Avantair employee out of their sick leave. Since you will probably say I am lying, run up to HR and pull my record before it is altered. Surprised, are you? Lovely place you are defending……

After leaving, I decided to make a truthful post about my experience at your company. That is what public forums are for. I told good things, I told mediocre things, and I told bad things….in that order. We call that “balance.” But I graciously omitted how they cheated me out of benefits and pay. I didn’t ask your company to start attacking me and telling everyone that I was lying. I didn’t ask your management to start telling people about my previous employment or my future endeavors. I would have been perfectly happy if no one ever responded at all to my post. Avantair came after me HARD. But, scared people do scary things.

Yes, Avantair lied to us when we were hired and told us that the company participated in Profit-Sharing, even though no such plan exists. Yes, they asked us to fly a plane that’s engine would start in the cut-off position. Yes, they asked us to fly a plane that had an engine that would have its oil pressure drop into the yellow arc while in cruise. Yes, they asked us to fly at night from SUS to TEB with an inoperative pilot-side gyro. I won’t even continue the list. That isn’t the point. You want the truth…..can you handle the truth? Were you concerned about “my livelihood” while your company was doing these things? Are you as a PAC member going straight to management and let them know that their behavior is unacceptable? Let us know.

If the “truth” has a negative impact on you, I don’t know what to tell you. You say that I don’t know the whole truth…..well, perhaps now YOU know more of the truth about things you weren’t aware of.

I’m glad that the 14-14 crap is gone. That would have been bad for the industry as a whole, not to mention extremely unsafe. Geeez dude, most people are exhausted and ready to go home after 7 straight days. The PAC really endorsed them flying 14 straight days ????? While I am kinda disappointed that the PAC would send a letter to the pilots offering them a chance to win a “watch” if they volunteered for that type of schedule, I tried to make a parody of it because it was actually very funny to read!

I totally understand when you say that I might not have 100% of the information. I never claimed that I did. Like I said before, correct me with facts, not hurt feelings. Tell the forum that I am wrong about the pilots rejecting BOTH proposed schedule changes. Tell us that you DO have Profit-Sharing.

I’m being told that now you guys are now going to an 8-6 schedule, at management’s discretion each shift, straight hourly pay that doesn’t start until 4:00 am on day 8 and stops as soon as you get home. Is that also “misinformation?” If so, please correct me. I can take it.

Note: Hardly anyone reads this forum. 90% of its readers live at PIE. Only management can hurt your livelihood. I can’t. I’m just a disgruntled ex-employee, remember….LOL? And, you could have sent me your message privately, but since you posted for all to see, I followed your lead. Fly safe.

Not my forum BTDT - but thanks for making a point that doesn't matter in the context of your previous point.

A Fellow Pilot…….
Same old re-run here.

So, if you had been paid more, all those other things you claim you were forced to do would have been ok?

Sorry Dude, just doesn't cut it. Been Here Doing It a while before you got here, and gonna Be Here Doing It for a long time to come.

Never had any of those experiences, and if it's broke, it gets written up, and I don't fly it.
