AKASHA, I agree that the original fractional model is dead, but it has evolved to the point that the providers seem to be making money (or losing very slowly) once again. To make it work they have had to add the jet card programs and airplane management and leasing into the mix. We are also seeing more deals with the airlines to provide a business jet at the end of long international flights. Even all these additions may not be enough for all the players. That, however, is how most businesses work- change to the current conditions or die. I have no idea what the next changes will be, but I'm sure there are many people a lot smarter than me trying to figure that out. I hope they can so I can continue in this part of the industry.

Just one of the many many reasons NJ has let most of the 495 down....

We are always more than welcome to apply. But out of everyone who submitted an app to EJM/NJME there are maybe a handful of guys who even got to interview. I'm guessing that atleast 75% of us submitted an app. at one time or another.

There has been a swirling rumor that EJM doesn't want NJA furloughees there. The reason escapes me at the moment.

EJM (not so much NJME) not even giving us pref. interviews has been a thorn in the side of the furloughee/NJASAP relationship for along time (that and the resignation fiasco and Workers Comp fiasco.) We have been told by NJASAP that they brought it up to NJA, motion denied, end of story? It has definitely been a major point of contention for the 495 vs. the Furlough Working Group/NJA.

There have been positions open that a ton of furloughees qualified and were current for. No dice for even an interview.

Probably not one of Buffett's top ten moves, however he did go on the record saying that "Netjets will have that distinct competitive advantage". Interestingly enough Buffett and Bill Gates are good friends, Berkshire Hathaway doesn't own any tech.

Sorry but you are wrong on that. I was "in the loop" on the hiring process on one account and I know for a fact that the DO and CP at EJM highly encourage the hiring of furloughed Netjets pilots. Now, since the owners will have the ultimate decision, it is still up to them to give the ok.

Hope it all works out for you guys.

Does this mean I won't get any more Marquis Jet hats or coolers?

Then there must be a conspiracy among owners not to hire furloughed NJA guys...Either that or we are way underqualified for the jobs being offered.

Saying you support the hiring of furloughed guys and actually doing it are two seperate things altogether. (referring to the DO/CP).

The NJASAP furlough working group has said dozens of times how they were unable to make any headway concerning getting us pref. interviews. (both at EJM and NJME, although with NJME we atleast had a period of time before the furlough to submit apps. Zilch from EJM)

Either that or this past year of e-mails and posts were all wrong concerning this issue. And your "in the loop" knowledge is correct. If I had a nickel for every "in the loop" or "I talked with so-and-so" that I've been told, I wouldn't even need to work!!

But in the end it may come down to the owners. But there's one thing I'm sure of. I have never received any sort of correspondance from EJM or NJASAP that "we're going to try really hard to support the hiring of NJA furloughees at EJM"

Please call those at BRK and others that are investing millions in the future of this business as they clearly have overlooked a seemingly important reality. I can't believe they didn't know that. You'd think they knew something about business and planning.

Thank you in advance for this important insight. You may want to ask them for a little splash off ($) for saving them so much time and money.
