All Piaggios Grounded?
An Avantair pilot just told me that all of their planes are grounded with an AD for an inspection of a drain hole due to flight controls freezing in flight. This problem has been ongoing for years. What a nightmare for scheduling that could be.

Flight aware shows eight VNR'S in the air presently, and it's an emergency AD: Emergency AD: Piaggio P-180 airplanes

Compliance
(f) Unless already done within the last 24 hours after receipt of this emergency AD, before further flight, perform the following actions using the instructions in Appendix 1 of this AD.
(1) Removal of central floor panels in the cabin and inspection of fuselage belly; and
(2) Functional test of the fuselage drain holes.
(g) Within 24 hours after complying with the actions required in paragraph (f) of this AD, fill out the reporting form provided in Appendix 2 of this AD and send to the FAA at the address (facsimile, email) referenced in the Related Information section, paragraph (k) of this AD.
Looks like they complied with the requirements and continued with business.

How does one repo all those planes down to PIE, Caldwell, or to CMA, pull all those floor panels, do the required drain checks, document the checks, reinstall everything, then get the planes back to where they are needed......overnight, then have fresh crews for today's flying? YIKES! Any charters?

Even for a 91K/135 operator its not THAT hard to find a qualified repair station to comply with an AD like this...
