Info on Avantair
I was wondering what projected take home would be for avantair. I see the pay scale, but do the pilots get tipped, and do they accrue hotel/airline points? Also, do they actually offer insurance that isn't a rip?

Projected take home is what you see on the pay scale. Overtime is available, if you wish, at the rates which have been discussed in other sections.
We are tipped sometimes. That seems to come and go - don't count that as part of your income, I've never had any significant or often enough to figure into the "income" side of the budget.
The insurance isn't "a rip". As a single person, I pay about $80 a month for better than the average HMO. I pay for the second tier of the insurance. The first tier is HMO and I personally don't care for them. I think the HMO insurance is significantly less for individuals. I have no idea how the family insurance is since I don't have any dependants, I didn't even look at it when we got the last new info...
You can accrue hotel/airline points, but that doesn't count towards income either. It is a nice bonus. There are also a number of nice FBO fuel reward programs out there to sign up for and get extra savings bonds, AE CC, etc.
Upgrade is still about a year, so you only have to suck up the first year pay, for about a year

Thanks all for your posts. And I have looked at the older posts regarding the company. I was offered interview last year, but not for the base I wanted, and not in an inexpensive city. Hope to see ya'll on the line in the future.

I liked flying the ATR. It was a good bird - when all the screens worked right! Some of them sat out in the desert too long and got a little dust up in there... Oh, well. Everything can't be perfect all the time or that would be no fun!
