Just wondering, but how popular is this versus the standard fractional share ownership ? I was researching the NetJets site and it seems very appealing for the I-am-not-Warren-Buffet crowd but still wealthy who is sick of TSA.

It's basically equivalent to being an owner, but without the high amount of flight hours.(or commitment of long term capital)... Of the top of my head I'd say a few hundred thousand dollars(per year) vs. a few million dollars(over 5 years)..

Yes it was very popular. And according to management, seems to be still somewhat popular. You get the same planes, same pilots, same catering, same service and the only way we generally know if it's a Marquis trip is by what regulations it falls under. On top of that, sometimes it is really a normal owner flying on extra hours bought through a Marquis card.

Bottom line, EXACT same service, less $$commitment, on a shorter term and no de-valuation risks.


PS....This is a cliff notes version. There are certain restrictions during peak periods, restrictions on upgrades etc... Some of my info may be a bit generalized..

that right there, that is exactly what it is....probably what netjets tells perspective clients.

As King said, there are some restrictions but, basically, they get the same service as owners. The biggest difference is that the cost per hour is higher with the card. At some point of increasing hours per year, the higher cost overrides the capital risk. This point probably varies with different people. Just MHO.

Very well written article in Januarys BCA magazine about the business model and future of Fractionals. Fairly positive for some and negative for others.

If that's the one that is mostly about NJA. I agree on some points. However, it must be realized who they interviewed for the article. I don't think NJA is on it's way down to 200 a/c....

And I don't think the interviewee left because he didn't agree with the rest of the guys. I think he was pressured out for not wanting any change. (whether that's a good thing or not is anyones guess?)

Fractionals go as the economy goes. Especially consumer confidence.
