XO considers PIC to be time as sole manipulator...not as signing for the aircraft.

Just to make sure I understand you corretcly, even though the company has me classifeied as a SIC (PIC-type), I am still eligible to log PIC time on all legs when operating as the sole manipulator, correct?

So for instance, if I only have 400hrs- PIC, my right seat time operating as the sole manipulator will count towards the necessary 1,500hrs to upgrade?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Yes. But that doesn't mean that any 121 carrier will care about that time, so log it separately if you have any aspirations.

What makes DRO special?? They are just as small as FLG and not to mention other airports located around the country that may be larger with more flights yet XO jet won't touch those applicants.

The Part 61.51 Defition of logging PIC time is time as sole manipulator so long as you are certificated and typed. Technically, you can log PIC time as an FO in a 737 if you are typed and sole manipulator. On the other hand, a person who holds an ATP, appropriate type rating, and is the assigned acting PIC to that airplane, i.e. the captain, can log PIC time the whole time the captain is the acting PIC regardless of whether or not he/she is the pilot flying.

Why the airlines choose not to count legal PIC time is beyond me. That's fine if they just want acting PIC time to meet hiring requirements, but they shouldn't discriminate against logging legal Part 61 PIC time (ahem SWA). SWA has denied quite a few of our pilots solely because they legally logged PIC time as an F/O.

Good point. Yet at when I’m sleeping in my first class seat and or my crew bunk and two FO’s are up front. I’m I’m still logging widebody PIC time because I signed for the airplane and there can only be one PIC in the 121 world.

But if it makes you feel better I haven’t filled out my log book since 1991.

I don't know. That's the frustrating part. There's also a guy that is allowed to base in Montrose. But he's been here forever and is grandfathered in. To Xojet, ALB was a no-no base while PNS was alright. All has to do with the price of airline tix. Sometimes on a case-by-case basis, they'll allow certain bases to be used. I've got a feeling they may have to home base again (allow ANY airport) as the airline retirements continue to happen.

This isn't the only place out there that seems to practice this approach. Kinda tired of these places offering "home basing" on their website yet its not really home basing as they expect you to live near a large international airport or if not some very random selected airports. Sometimes I wonder if they spin a globe and see where their fingers land to hire pilots. I've also seen places where equally qualified pilots live and one gets hired while the other doesn't just because one person was female, black, or asian etc. The optional gender and race section of an application might hold more weight then we know. Might have to start saying im 10% of something non white to land a job.
