Apparently they've opened that up to outsiders as well. Its on the Careers page and they've sent notifications to people on their recruiting lists.

How many 350s does Vista Jet have? Looks like some research is in order.

How does one get the position of pilot on one of their Global Express? That seems to be a foreign entity that probably doesn’t take FAA license?

I found this interesting on VistaJet and it's 2018 performance.

I know this is been discussed by some, the purchase of XOJET by Vista Global Holdings (which owns VistaJet also) Probably too early to say what this all means but clearly some changes in the next 12-18 months will be seen...any predictions from current folks? Thanks in advance. Swimming in the pool waiting for the email for possible dates to go to SMF. Looking forward to it greatly.

Friday 18 Jan - Applied on XOJET website

Sunday 20 Jan - Received email notifying me I was selected to "start the initial interview process". I replied same day with availability to do phone interview. Helpful background on the company, benefits and other details were provided at that time.

Monday 21 Jan - nailed down phone interview date

Friday 25 Jan - 1+15 phone interview, very enjoyable discussion with XO interview team leader.


Monday 28 Jan - Email telling me I was being placed "in a pool of candidates to be interviewed" in SMF HHQs. Also attached was the PRIA, DOT, SWA training record requests that I completed and then emailed back within a few hours of opening the email.

Waiting to receive all of those packets of information (probably this week or next) and would hope to get an invitation to SMF before Feb is over with but no promises.

No type in Challenger or the X

Very impressed with what I've heard so far from ex-XO and current XO pilots. Understand the 135 vs 121 world is apples and oranges. Hoping for the chance to join their group and learn what that world is all about and contribute where I can. Again thanks to those on here who have offered guidance and counsel.

As an aside, before the days of APC, in the late 90's when I was getting on at SWA, I visited the old Compuserve forums and then Flightinfo.com at its infancy and did exactly the same thing I'm doing now, asking questions and getting help (and a few daggers for "why are you applying to SWA when everyone else is hiring").

For many years afterwards I returned the favor and offered help where I could to those seeking info about SWA. Paying it forward is something I've had happen in my aviation career and I'm very thankful for that...if lucky enough to get hired I hope to be able to do the same thing for others all again.

Sorry for the long ramble.

Like everyone else, we need pilots. Not sure what the wait time is in the pool, but they’re doing interviews every week lately it seems like. Based on the emails I get, it looks like they’re interviewing about 4 applicants a week.

This heartless and cowardly act was repeated with 23 pilots, or roughly 20 percent of the pilot group 2 weeks before Christmas. From that day forward, those pilots will have to check TERMINATED on online applications that can filter you out for Accident, Incident, Violation, TERMINATION, DWI, Felony, No 4 year degree, etc. In this day of online applications, these pilots may never get a chance to explain to a real person as to WHY they were terminated rather than furloughed.

Defenders of this atrocity quipped that there were some “bad apples” in that bunch, but do you really believe that 23 pilots deserved to be fired in one afternoon? Did they all screw up at the same time?

While this did not affect me personally, or my several friends there, it did affect 23 fellow pilots, and when even 1 pilot is furloughed or wrongly terminated, it hurts and weakens us all. That is why I repeat this story whenever something similar comes up, but especially at XOJET.. So whenever I hear the euphemism of “let go”, or “force reduction”, it angers me that something much more sinister has happened (at least in XOJET’s case).

I do realize that they have a new management team, now, and the perpetrators of this atrocity have moved on, but it is important to remember that this happened in recent history. Unless a company has a written Reduction in Force (Furlough Policy), this can happen again. Pilots should push hard for this at their individual companies in order to avoid a termination on their record simply because the market turned South. Avoiding having to check that box is something that all pilots should strive for.

I kept inquiring how, under 135, XOJet was allowed to use "rolling rest" as an FAA approved operation. I was told to keep quiet and eventually I was part of the 23 who were terminated.

That sucks but since then XO has had defined rest for a long time and every level of leadership from the chief pilot up to the ceo and the investors/parent company has turned over at least once and sometimes more. Completely different people running the show top to bottom.
