Are there pilots at SWA who have the view that layoffs of that magnitude are possible?
Yes
Would that type of news, if true, be showing up on the SWAPA union boards?
Absolutely.
Are there any such posts there?
No
SWA will do everything they can by working with employee groups to get through this without furloughs. OALs first response is furloughs, SWA and its employees dont take that approach.
Furloughs were predicted after 9/11 and in past crisis. This is unlike all others so anything is possible.
To make such as unfounded statement under the guise of "a SWA CA said" t is the height of not knowing history, a total lack of professionalism and fake news.

I'm not trying to fear monger at all, my point is I got guys from JB, AMR, and United in my unit telling me **** is very bad, only only info I had from SWA was from one off their own guys. If they let us grab a 100K out of the 401K i'm taking it. NJA Union guy told me today they are talking 1000-2000 buyouts, my buddy at UAL said he got offered 4 months at 35 hours, 20 of which are paid in December. Trump saying "we'll be lucky with 200K deaths", I'm sure the SWA guys will be great with 2-4 revenue pax on each flight, I'm an airline guy and I am driving home from this training!

Might I recommend a suggestion when “sharing” rumors on aviation forums from guys in your unit about their airlines, particularly during these very difficult times for so many who don’t have the luxury of an uninterrupted federal paycheck like you
Since you are not employed by these airlines, SWA, for example, I would recommend when you get the next rumor, pls check with other pilots from that airline before posting the info. This particularly applies to such scary numbers like you posted.
You may find a very different answer or you may not be able to confirm the info and if so, pls consider pausing before hitting “send”.
If I spoke to an airman in your unit and he said he heard your unit was being BRAC’d and decided to post it, it would irresponsible for me to do IMHO. Info that scary would need to be confirmed before posting responsibly.
Not trying to pile on and if you feel I am, my apologies...just trying to tap the brakes on “supposed” news. Cheers

Current SWA guy near the bottom of the list and so far no talk of furloughs from management or the union. Theres a long road before that happens. Could it happen. Of course. Will it happen? Depends how long this goes on for.

Just finished my 8 day rotation at XOJET and flew pax every single day, so things still seem pretty steady here now. Lot of last minute day before bookings with many elderly pax flying. No problems with hotels or getting food, needed to get creative using Uber eats and grub hub at times.

Just starting my 8-day rotation. Schedule looks busy for XOJET, but there sure was a lot of red “Cancelled” on the airline flight board. Also, pick’ns are getting slimmer in the terminals...even the big ones. Maybe one out of every 8-10 food establishments is open. I’ll survive (especially with all the “reserve” calories I carry around my waist) but choices are not what they used to be.
I pray for all my airline brothers and sisters. I know there is a LOT of worry out there right now. I was impressed how pleasant all the flight and cabin crews have been.
