Wonder if this deal had any ties to the sudden downsizing of Citation Air?

You mean Flexjet?

I don't know, but the rumors sure will start... however, I'm sure this cannot be good news for Flexjet.

Both companies are going thru big changes, involving pilots losing their jobs. I certainly wouldn't say this is "GREAT NEWS" unless you are a NetJets pilot and don't care what is going on around you. Unless there is growth in these orders at NJA, it may not even be good news for them. And I doubt there will be any growth over there for awhile.

Congrats NJ pilots. It sounds like somebody wants to do business in this market.

NetJets announces $9.6 billion aircraft purchase | The Columbus Dispatch

Maybe its just me, but as an aviation supporter (and employee of the industry), new equipment, more planes, airplane factory assembly lines kept open, etc, are indeed good news. Warren Buffet, no dummy, didn't green light spending money on new jets unless he felt it justified.

I am a Netjets' pilot and I think this is GREAT NEWS.... If Citation Shares or Flexjet were the ones announcing a large aircraft order, those pilots would be the ones saying "great news", I promise you....

as for growth at Netjets, I agree with you. NJ is retiring aircraft like crazy and besides some of those challengers will probably end up with Netjets Europe. not much growth

Hey UCLAbruins - I just sent you a PM.

Great news about the order! By the way, which Netjets fleets are likely to be retired sooner than others? What is the likely order? I know the Ultras are gone and the older XLs and Xs are starting to depart...

I'm pretty sure their G-IV (non 450) fleet is on its way out because they are all older with tons of hours on them. Their older citations and beechjets are dated as well.
