Thanks for the info. At least it seems there is movement in the right direction for now.

This is indeed wonderful news. Something I see on their website is the "ideal" candidate will live within 1.5 hours of the assigned airport. Is this something new for them? I have spoken with pilots that fly for them and live 3+ hours away and said that as long as you make your flights they do not care. Anybody have any info on this? How firm are they on the 1.5 hour? I meet every other item on the list but live about 3 hours away.

MilitaryAV8R,

You Live 3 hours away and I live half way across country, but, I would be more than happy to keep a Crash Pad In Richardson, TX.

So, I've applied....I would say that you should have NO problem and would probably get the nod long BEFORE I would.

How do base assignments work? Could a new hire hold ORD/MDW?

You can choose any base you want. I should point out that many management positions (CEO, Chief Pilot, Director of Ops, Head of human resources...) are different people now than a year or so ago. And definitely different than the last time we hired. So hard to say if any new policies are in place. In the past they said they like NYC based people as that is our most busy base, but I don't know if that would really give you much of an edge. A lot of people like more than 1.5 hours, but many have a crash pad or relatives or friends so they can say that the night before they start a trip they will technically be in their base. If you tell them that you plan to commute from provo utah they might raise an eyebrow, but as long as it's semi-resonable you shouldn't have a problem. Just dont try and hide it, just talk about how you are aware of the rule and this is how I'm going to make sure I never miss a trip.

Thanks for the info! I just said ORD/MDW because it would be the closest base to where I live (MI).

What are the schedules like? Days on/off rotation? Any idea how they look on 121 guys for hiring?

Thx.

we have a preferential bidding systems that averages everything out to about 15 days a month. You basically get given a list of 5000+ possible schedules and rank them in order of what you want. Sounds like a lot of work but not too bad once you get the hang of it. You can work between 12 and 18 days a month (you can only be forced to work between 14-16, outside of that is voluntary), and from 4-8 days on the road at a time (more than 6 is voluntary only). So lots of variety is possible. Some guys like long trips, some like short. Hopefully everyone gets their top choice but new guys will get the leftovers. Hard to say what those left overs will be.

Not sure about 121 time helping. I'm sure it's a bonus at least.

I know the conference call Friday said they were bringing 20 back and expecting a 75 percent take on recalls. Does anyone know how to see a furlough list so we know where we stand in recall order? I understand we have to re-apply and go through the interview process, but they are re-calling in seniority order for the interviews and I bet it will be well over a year or two before they get through the entire furlough list. It would be nice to see where we stand on the
list.
