Apologize if this has already been explained, but what did LOA 65 do to help us in the past? Just to allow pilots to grab stuff before it went to JA/VJA? I assume in the past this was considered a good thing? Honestly just trying to understand, not making any points.

It was relief for the company (at the time). But they use in some bases to almost completely circumvent the normal VJA/JA process which is done in seniority order. In bases like DEN they would add little or no incentive, and they would have pilots picking up the trips for straight time (original credit). In MCO, they have been 200-600% pay to the first caller to claim it. As someone already said, there is nothing stopping CS from putting extra incentive on trips that go through the JA process, this just ensures it will always pay a minimum of an extra 25%(VJA) or 50%(JA), per the CBA. And most importantly it will ensure that trips will be offered in seniority order.

What it will also do is tie up crew scheduling even more because they have to go top down for vja then bottom up for ja... if they don’t do it properly, it makes grievances more clear cut

Every pilot should list for every base for every day.

I've always done that. I hardly ever take one, but I'd like the option to see it first. Also, you can have three phone numbers and Google Voice is a good option if you're looking to add another number. You can either have it forward the calls to your phone or just get text/email alerts when there is a message for you.

Not give 2 weeks to pull a LOA. When the decision was made to pull 65, 7 days is all they should have given.
