Frontier Negotiations Discussion

I think it's just a matter of perspective. I'm closer to the F9 operation so I see all the warts and hear these customers. You're in the same position at Spirit.
They'll probably just call it Eastern and get it over with🤢

I do not believe a merger is imminent. The IPO is a big pay day for the investors. As long as both Frontier and Spirit are growing and profitable, there's just no need to go through the painful merger process. I just don't see it as being as inevitable as you all seem to. At least in the short term.
And I really don't think they are going to merge 2 airlines just to delay a pilot contract.

As you've pointed out, they are profitable as stand alone airlines, so they can hang out for a while and throw logs in the road.
If they can stall the negotiations or make them more complicated they will.
The muddier they can make the water during negotiations, the easier it is to abuse the contract that's eventually adopted.

Does it really matter what name they decide to keep? The reputation of the (speculative) combined company is going to stink regardless. And the pilots, FAs, rampers, and agents for both companies won't lift a finger to change that reputation until they receive fair pay. Changing our service reputation takes motivated employees going above and beyond their job duties to deliver that "service with a smile"; our management groups definitely have no grasp on this concept.

Yeah it is possible. Interesting possibility would be Frontier acquiring Spirit through a reverse takeover.

This isn't 2014. I think we can quit pretending we don't understand this.

I thought it might be a possibility when SAVE was $60. Now at $38, does it still make sense to do a stock purchase of F9, or would it mean burning up additional cash reserves on top of stock to buy someone? SAVE valuation is down 33% in 2017, and $1.5B of market cap has evaporated. Seems like NK is a bargain at $2.6B now, maybe they're for sale.
