Frontier Negotiations Discussion
#202
I noticed a common theme at the PUB event last night; pilots beginning to educate themselves on Section 6 and the RLA in general. There's no shame in admitting you're not familiar with it, but this is the time. We must become intimately familiar with what's allowed and what isn't during the Section 6 process.
I found this on the American Bar Association's site: http://apps.americanbar.org/labor/an...ers/v2/012.pdf
It's a bit dry, but not very hard to understand and intelligent questions are welcomed by our reps. The good stuff, Section 6, begins on p.42 (p.47 of the .pdf).
In order to file a dispute we need to know our rights and responsibilities as spelled out in the contract, employee manual (wherever not specifically addressed in the contract, management has the right to manage the workforce as they see fit per 1.M. in the CBA) and FOMs.
In order to have a realistic view of what may come next, we need to know what the RLA's processes are and how they apply to the situation that we are going to be dealing with for a long long long time, (in my opinion).

He is also very convinced we are merging. I just don't understand how we could merge until we are public though.

Yeah it is possible. Interesting possibility would be Frontier acquiring Spirit through a reverse takeover.

Unfortunately we've seen zero from management to indicate otherwise.
If the same cast of F9 characters show up to the next mediation you can expect the same result. None of them has decision making authority beyond agreeing to simple administrative issues.
Real issues, retirement and insurance for recent examples, are decided in Phoenix not Denver.

Puts B.B. In the CEO seat, removes the need to IPO, makes a mess of our equity issue and who knows what it would do to our Section 6.
These guys play for keeps.

Morale can't get any worse and these guys merging us before we have our CBAs sounds like the absolute best way to **** off pilots to the point of self destruction.
I'm not advocating it, not wishing for it to happen but it's a very real possibity in my opinion.
