So, when I heard several months ago that the NMB would not schedule any mediated sessions past the end of September, I had thought they were implying something else. Great process they have in place here.

Just another fine example of federal government efficiency at work.

So the arbitrator tells Alaska that they can't have Legacy pay because Alaska can't compete in frequency or number of destinations. They can only compete with lower fares so pilots have to make less money.

Aint that dandy.

I'm curious where you learned that?

The email came out yesterday. They got denied on almost everything. Surely this is a bad omen for us.

Sorry, but an email from our MEC? I ask because I've had random issues with ALPA and receiving emails, it's a PITA. Thanks.

I didn’t receive any emails from our MEC regarding the Alaska arbitration, but I have been following the threads here on APC closely regarding the arbitration (since it will likely affect us in some way), and the arbitrator did say something to the effect of ‘Alaska Airlines doesn’t make as much revenue and serve as many regions as the legacies, and therefore is not entitled to equal pay as the big 4.’ My summary, but you get the gist of it. There’s an actual quoted excerpt from the arbitration in one of the AAG arbitration threads

We won’t. And they wouldn’t have either except their contract stated if a JCBA could not be reached after a merger then they would submit to arbitration.

I have no idea if what the AS arbitrator decided sets any precedent in the eyes of our mediator.

Alaska/Virgin got shafted on scope. The pay and retirement are well within the averages.

There is certainly a lot of risk in going down the road of arbitration. They did however get a deal completed in a timely fashion. Hopefully the lack of scope doesn't come back to bite them. Can you even imagine having someone like Republic flying E190s for you??? Oh wait...
