Why? Considering coming here now? Let’s just say nothing is industry leading or even average.

Closed minded enough to realize that there are other sides of aviation that pay worse or have worse work rules. F9 is a step up for a lot of pilots. Accept that.

Unfortunately there will be the salty dogs that no matter what they get it will be the worst.

Pretty much, yeah.

Our new contract goes longer into the future, so the top pay rates do go higher than Spirits, but that's mostly just because the 3% raises go another year.

Just so you know, 1st year pay is 57 and second year pay is 107

Ed Force One 01-13-2019 05:33 PM

How many years is the contract? I heard someone say it was 8 years, but surely they can't be serious.

HeisenbergBlue 01-13-2019 05:34 PM

It’s 5. The people who say 7-8 are being overly dramatic.

How is that? The last contract was signed 8 years ago and the negotiations for this one lasted 3 years. I'd say their estimate is very accurate.

Company Bad Faith Bargaining Begins: July 1, 2023.
MEC Incentivised Open Time Flying Period / Vacation Cancellations Begin: January 2024.

7 years, 4 months.

Bro, you gotta quit sampling those blue goods. We were in negotiations for just shy of 3 years with the early opener.

I bet if you concentrate real hard you can reconcile that 4.5 + 2.9 = 7.4

I guess we're to assume that you didn't know what you voted on?

The question was how long is the contract, not your estimate. The contract is 5 years with a 6 month early opener.

Could someone please elaborate on travel benefits for immediate and extended family please? I'm having some difficulty locating anything concrete. Thank you...

Is the contract not in effect until it is replaced by a ratified successor? If all you want is a guarantee on the side of the box I can take a crap in a box and mark it guaranteed.

When does health insurance coverage start for a new hire?
Is there a PPO/HMO with a co-pay?

Immediate family (spouse, children, parents) fly free unlimited on all Frontier flights. All of the above have access to ZED fares on most airlines (notable exceptions are UAL and DAL).

You may substitute 1 for 1 for your spouse, mother, and father. Your substitutes can be anyone, but subs must pay a yield fare for each Frontier flight (though travel is unlimited). One substitute that you designate may have access to several ZEDs (most are excluded, but JetBlue and IcelandAir are included). The other substitutes get no ZED access.

We get 28 buddy passes a year (1 segment = 1 buddy pass). MCO-PWM is 1 pass (2 Round Trip). MCO-DEN-SEA is 2 buddy passes (4 RT). Each holiday you work you earn 4 more buddy passes.

Finally, anyone listed on your travel benefits is eligible for the EZ20 fares. It’s 20% off the lowest available price to the general public at the time of booking. This is positive space and includes a checked and a carry on bag. Many employees take advantage of this benefit.

Health insurance begins on the 1st of the month FOLLOWING the month in which you start training.

There are multiple options for health insurance. I believe all are PPO. There’s a High Deductible plan with HSA option, a traditional plan with 80/20 coverage, and then the “legacy” plan that has high coverage and extremely high premiums. Most do the HSA or traditional plan. Personally I prefer the HSA.

Thanks. To be clear, if I started say April 11th, coverage would begin May 1st?
At JB, coverage begins the first after your first full calendar month, so if you started April 11th, coverage wouldn’t begin until June 1st.

Hey if You can’t read and answer a question without adding your dislike and negative comments for the new contract, you can stop posting. It saves people a lot of time actually answering them correctly and without your crap attitude.

You bought the X-ray glasses out of the back of the magazine for $0.55 and expected them to work too, right?

The question was how long the current contract will be in effect for. The correct answer is until a new agreement is ratified to replace it. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Arliss 01-14-2019 06:42 AM

So basically, buddy passes and dependents who do not have ZED access will only be able to able to fly on Frontier flights?

Because 5 or 4.5 years is not correct or a genuine answer. Just like our hopefull "effective payrates," right? Why can't you give a genuine answer as to the effective duration of this contract?

Sec 31 - Duration
Q: Why did we agree to a five-year term and when does our five-year term begin?
A: If ratified, the contract amendable date will be January 16, 2024 with an option for ALPA to open six months early on July 1, 2023. As depicted by one of the slides posted on the website, most other airlines will likely become amendable just ahead of us, and our goal is to take advantage of a favorable industry pattern, just as we did in this round of bargaining. In addition, by agreeing to a 5 year term, we were able to achieve 3% increases in the last 2 years of our Agreement, and we were also able to achieve an “extra” across the board increase, raising our total wages to a higher level when we next enter bargaining. Last but not least, with the implementation of PBS, which will require a significant amount of bargaining, our intent is to negotiate additional improvements over the terms of the contract, as has been the case at many other successful ALPA carriers. Negotiations that occur outside of Section 6 are positive for the pilots because favorable changes can occur sooner, and there is less to address when we actually open our negotiations under Section 6.
The first bolded is what ultimately concerns me about Frontier. You have to be ok with riding NK's coattails and not doing $h1t for the industry ourselves. While our management bargains in bad faith and takes the operation to the BRINK our MEC will take that opportunity to credit 100's of hours a month until the company has almost completely choked their goose that lays the golden eggs. Then Barry will saunter in and give us the lowest thing out there plus a little "effective."

Also, that's a very optimistic view of our PBS negotiations (arbitrations).

Yes, afaik from my friends flying at different majors this is exactly how it is there as well. Its not like the regionals where you flew for a few different majors so your dependents could fly on those same couple different ones as well.

ZED travel restrictions come from the other airlines allowing you ZED travel, so those restrictions are common as well.

Is there any airline that gives buddy passes that can be used for another airline or ZED travel? Sorry not trying to sound rude, it's a real question, I'd be shocked if there was but that would be a cool perk.

This ZED talk brings up a question for me. Does anyone know the story behind why United and Delta do not share the agreement with us?

We had UAL until 2015 ish I believe? Could be misremembering. They seem to be stingy with agreements and if there is not an even mutual reciprocity they will drop agreements.

GhostRider22 01-14-2019 09:03 AM

Yeah, I remember when it fell apart, I just couldn’t remember when.

Thanks

Was there anything in the TA Q and A section that gave pointers on how to get open time request approved. I notice I am constantly denied and the same pilots always seem to squeeze in a split second before I do. Is there some inside info that only an elect few know about?

Yes and yes.

You can get $36 a month for parking.
You must try 2 flights that arrive 1 hour prior to report time

They’re not offering the IRS report; it’s just a list of where you went and when. There’s an FAQ on the ‘Recent Updates’ menu...

Prettywhacked1 01-29-2019 01:16 PM

From the Pilot Tax folks who I’ve used for decades.....

Federal itemizing eliminated......

States where you can still itemize on your state return.......AL, AR, CA, HI,IA,MN,NY or PA!
