I have been on the property for ground school and heard that there are 6 guys from last class that did not make it through. That seems kind of high since last class had less than 30 people. They are scaring some of us with all the stories of failures and the intensity of the instructors. I heard that they don’t have enough instructors and that line training is delayed. Can anyone confirm this? Some of the guys were also talking about an Emirates Captain that washed out.

What does the initial training footprint look like if you are hired already typed and current on the A320 ? Do you still do 10 sims ?

The captains you'll fly with on the line will be more scared of you, then you are of them....

I’m pretty sure the Emirates captain you speak of didn’t wash out. He wasn’t heading to the line, either. Do what’s expected and you’ll be fine. Training wasn’t perfect, but it was certainly doable. The extrapolated percentage of those who are on hold from our class was just above 9%. An attrition rate is not a bad thing, as this job isn’t for everybody. Would you want a sub-par pilot that struggled in training flying your family?

Last class was 6 FTDs and 11 FFSs. The only thing you don’t do if you are typed is a “type ride” and a one-on-one oral. You will do a PC, which is essentially the same thing sans a couple of maneuvers. Getting typed was nothing more than a very expensive litmus test for program pilots.

They also told my class that there was long delays in IOE and that is not true. Most everyone in my class started flying IOE within a week of finishing their LOFT. Do yourself a favor and when you're getting close to doing your checkride, send flight ops training an email and request the base you would like to do IOE out of, as they will give your initially awarded base otherwise (despite what anyone in ground school tells you). Out of 50 people in my class 1 washed out in training, and 2 are still on hold waiting to see if they can finish training (poor performance). About 25% busted their checkride on the first attempt, but almost everyone passed eventually.

Fortunately for your class, they got caught up but there were extended delays for IOE prior to that. I wouldn’t be surprised if delays creep back in over the next 2-3 months.

Why would he be at Frontier with his experience with all the majors hiring. You have to question his decision making.
He was likely there to be a NSLI.

I think what's more shocking is what they are busting for. Multiple flap overspeeds, unstable approaches and crashing the sim.
