Ah, yes. So you take my “subjective” example, twist it because of your misunderstanding and get all hot under the collar. Let me ask this question... If a widget is so superior that a company can’t makr a profit and goes bankrupt , does that really make it a superior product? Does a industry high profit margin might, just might suggest a widget is superior to all others? It’s an interesting business metric, don’t you think? The joy of capitalism is companies have their own opinion and strategies, hence we have market segments to make everyone happy. But to say United has a superior product to Frontier is wrong on many levels.

Adios planepirate. I’m done pounding sand. I’m sure Franke will happily snuggle with his profit margins when he falls asleep tonight while everyone else is arguing over superior product. I bet he laughs in his sleep.

Or when someone travels a ULCC and is just as satisfied paying so little to get from A-B, hence a superior product for that customer. You just don’t get it, do you. Look up the word subjective while your at it.

I’ll agree with “satisfied”. Saying you have a “superior product” is a bit of a stretch. A “superior business model” would at least be debatable.

Sure, when you are the only steakhouse in town, you can charge $100 for a perfect filet, but we can come in and offer an average cut for bottom dollar, who do you think is going to get more business?

Do you know how many of your customers in RDU were tired of being price-gouged in RDU and love F9 now that the average fare has decreased by 40%? A lot.

Also, I used to commute RDU-ORD and purchased my own tickets every month. I never bought United tickets. Ever.
I would either take DL through ATL or CVG or SWA to MDW and then the train over to ORD. United was the worst for both price and on-time performance.
Not knocking everything about UAL, just chiming in specifically about RDU from my personal few years experience.
