More competition from UAL in DEN
Posted over on the UAL Forum.
Kirby is getting his bottom feed RJ flying warmed up to compete with our NEOs. Should be interesting to see how the 175s will compete on some of these routes.

Ridiculous.
That’s what was going to happen two years ago, according to Kirby.
It amounted to nothing.
He didn’t learn his lesson at American when he lost billions trying to shut Spirit out of DFW.
When Amtrak and Greyhound decide to stop us then we’ll have something to talk about. That’s our competition.

Honestly, I just don't see us competing for the same passengers. United has their loyal passengers, all of whom have 'miles' and a United credit card, and then there's our passengers. There is some overlap, but I believe there is less overlap than not.
Lately, United has been working hard to focus on business and first class travel. They are reducing economy seats across their fleets and replacing them with more 1st and business class seats. I believe that is a very telling move. It's a more clear separation of markets from us.
I think in some way United is giving up on the $50 ticket folks. Just as we gave up on the business travelers.

You make it sound like a bad idea he’s matching the appropriate capacity aircraft for the market size. Also, who wouldn’t want to fly on a 175 over your sardine can?

Not matching Frontiers fares on days frontier doesn’t offer service doesn’t mean it’s price gouging, especially considering United offers a superior product.

Anyway, I sincerely hope for the best for all but ULCC model is vastly different than the legacies. It’s that simple.
