I’ve used ZEDs at my previous airline on foreign carriers but rarely domestic. From what I’ve heard, AA was your best shot to get upgraded to first class by the crew. Obviously our ZEDs were for economy cabin only, but if first class seats were open then I hear you had a 50/50 shot of getting upgraded by the crew. Foreign carriers generally have a different mentality and very rarely will upgrade you as a ZED passenger.

I only use ZEDs when I travel outside North America with my wife. I never use domestic airlines for that travel, the foreign airlines always seem to have better seat availability and their Economy or Economy Plus style seating is better than domestic. I traveled 18hrs in United Economy once, and ouch!
I obviously like to have more options but for now we have plenty of selection from foreign carriers. The pass bureau said they’re close to getting United back because they like the routes we now serve.

Benefits after retirement?
The Legacy airlines offer travel benefits for life after retirement.
What is Frontier take on that? Do they offer travel benefits with Frontier and Zed fares with all the airlines after you retire? Spouse/children?
