Yet another issue with the companies memo. Paraphrasing, They seem to have issues if your low on sick time. Ok. Can I have my sick days back you took as part of our pay concessions then? It was 2 days a year for several years. Should be 10 at least.

The company has got to know that most of it is unenforceable. In the meantime, they are creating a bunch of ill will. They were utterly terrible to this group for the past 2 to 3 years. I would think now would be the time for reconciliation, not continued threats and intimidation.

Treat me like an adversary and an adversary i will be.
no doubt!!

You absolutely can! I’ve been near zero for years.

No. I mean you can right now. Today. As a matter of fact, you can technically go below zero as you will accumulate a day before the end of the bid period.

Why are you guys debating this bs policy?

If you are sick, you are sick. You have a professional duty, a moral obligation, and a legal requirement under the FARs to remove yourself from flying.

This is simply another company tactic to weaken our pilot group.

Save your money. Call in sick when required and, if needed, hire a good attorney. Good luck firing us for following the FARs.

It’s not about the FARs or the fact that it’s a bs memo... it’s the fact that they keep setting us up for different sh!t... they’ll throw out this memo if we agree to buy hats and wear them... or if we agree to buy the new tie and uniform shirt that has wing eyelets on it... it costs them nothing yet it can be a lucrative bargaining chip for them... it’s also worth discussing because they keep sending out memos telling us they want us to be on time and that most of the departures that go a few minutes late are “fixable”, ie our fault... they put no care or thought into their operation and expect us to go out of our way to fix it for them... send me a specials report so I know where I’m parking... don’t wait until the door is closed to tell me the headset is broken... I’m opening the door to discuss what’s expected... don’t schedule an airplane to leave a gate at 139 and have another arrive at 140... all this does is create ill will, or should I say, borderline irreparable ill will that is completely unnecessary... If you don’t call in sick, they have to hire fewer pilots... kind of like this cba that was approved by an astounding 77% is set up to do... another tactic to earn them money and compromise your seniority...

I was recently told on a trip with someone who just did RGS that SC came and said now they want us to use leave vs sick as much as possible, so this is a shift coming from on high, BL or BB.

The examples in the memo we got reflect this new push, but obviously there are situations (outside of broken bones, cancer, and family members with cancer) that won’t pass muster with leave or FMLA, imho.

Just passing it along.

How does leave, in lieu of sick, benefit them? It doesn't. But enforcing an attendance policy like this (making you jump through more hoops) deters sick time usage which saves them money. Standard regional airline MO, that's all.
