Default ORD Base

I am very interested in going to Frontier, particularly because of their Chicago base. How is F9 for those living in base @ ORD? Is it growing, stagnant, or shrinking? Junior or senior on both the FO or CA side? What is the flying like?

Thanks in advance.

Stagnant, with no signs of growing. But also no recent rumor of shrinking or closing. On the senior side for FO’s, on the junior side for CA’s. The flying is possibly the best in the system...higher credit and more days off.

Excellent flying if you’re senior... some of the worst trips in the whole system if you’re junior... I commuted out of the L concourse and it was pretty painless... now we park at the international terminal and I know of people who went to another base bc commuting is such a PIA now... I loved it there... great pilots and FAs... not a single one I wouldn’t work with again happily

Interesting. Is captain upgrade relatively short for Chicago then because you have a lot of FOs holding out for quality of life?

Thank you for the added perspective. It sounds like living in base curbs a lot of the challenges with being ORD based.

Gotta offer a different take.......junior on the FO side top to bottom, semi junior on the low CA side, but gets senior fast halfway with nearly zero movement.....I call it glacial (sorry, Riddle Rats....)......lucky to have 1-2 retirements/year but seems like 1-2 carpetbaggers join a year because of relative seniority vs LAS or DEN, plus average trip credit higher than other bases........also, at Recurrent 2 months ago DEN ACP said no growth but secure for 4 years, then slow growth.......tbd.......

If a base CP is making predictions about staffing in a single base 4 years from now they are clearly reading the entrails of slaughtered chickens.

I distinctly remember ol’ Herb cutting the ribbon when Southwest opened their ORD base back in ‘71.

All of which seem to be significantly harder to get the seniority that you would get here.... but that’s just me
