[QUOTE=Aero1900;2858321]I'm sorry for your frustration in waiting so long for a class date. I get it.
During contact negotiations, which became pretty hostile at times, a majority of the pilot group stopped picking up open time and taking voluntary junior assignments. This lead the company to become artificially short staffed. The company was hiring like crazy during that time.
It doesn’t matter if 99.9% of the pilot group stopped picking up open time or doing JA... they got every single trip covered and completely split the pilot group between guys with self respect who wanted an actual market rate contract (which we still failed to achieve) and selfish *********s who decided to make a buck at the expense of the pilot group and the industry as a whole... and they didn’t hire like crazy because we were artificially short staffed; they hired because they knew exactly when they’d finally put something on the table and they needed to get warm bodies in the seats based on... get this... projected block hours... because they’re the only shmucks in the whole world that staffs on BLOCK HOURS

2019 and 2020 have 18 new aircraft and 3 returns for a net gain of 15 airplanes each year. That's assuming that there are no delivery delays. I read yesterday that JetBlue is having delays due to Airbus production falling behind.

The thing that people tend to forget when they say 'my company has applications from 2000 well qualified applicants' is that those 2000 well qualified applicants have 15,000 applications out, but in the end they can only hold one job at a time. Let them swim too long and they'll swim off somewhere else.
And most of those well qualified applicants are becoming better qualified - at least in terms of hours - every month.

if approximately 100 pilots in pool at end of May, (last month doing interviews, I think)
Less than 100 going through classes before December
It would possibly be March 2020 before current pool residents are finished, not adjusting for any recent hires that may be called out of sequence.
Lots of treading water
