PHX is a lot more likely than a lot of cities mentioned above.

Doesn’t frontier have a pretty good amount of flights coming out of ONT? Seems like it would be a good west coast move.

Why would F9 open a PHX base?
They'd be competing with AA but also SW (another LCC, and also a very profitable one).
Also, they have a Vegas base 4 hours away.

Because PHX is a very large and quickly growing city. American is by far the weakest of the big airlines so when you are looking for a big city to grow in, you pick the one with the weakest competitor. SW is definitely a challenge there but you have to go somewhere. PHX also allows for year round outdoor maintenance

So does swa. They have a las base as well. We used to run from swa but now we have substantial competitive advantages. I never thought that would happen but it did.

Jackson Omaha Des Moines Boise Providence Chicago

But no where in New Jersey that's the only place we won't go!

Also the powers at be are headquartered in Phoenix. All of our bases compete directly with AA or SWA, I don’t think management is scared of them. I’m just hoping anything west of the Mississippi.

You would think so. ONT has over a million people in the near vicinity and has excellent weather year round. But it’s California and there’s always some kind of special tax for everything imaginable.

And it’s a great jump point for Hawaii (at some point) and South America, no? I’m completely biased as I live in LA, but I know a lot of people in the LA area that would drive to ONT to fly cheaply while also avoiding LAX insanity. I mean, I would do it too, and I live close to LAX.

AA is the weakest Legacy and most vunerable. SWA is hardly a LCC. They haven't been any cheaper than Legacies for years.
