We've (United) always had reciprocal jumpseat privileges AFAIK. I've had F9 pilots on my jumpseat and I've jumpseated on F9.

I don't know of any jumpseat agreements that changed with COVID

there was an issue with f9 pilots on cola. Induced by management changing vol 1 language. Before the change we had mil pilots out for over a year still able to jump seat. Basically the change made it a current and qualified issue. That’s been resolved as there are no f9 pilots on cola anymore. Dispute filed but there’s a language issue in the cola Loa. Probably won’t go anywhere.

Past a certain number of days on leave of absence, I think all pilots are taken out CASS. I can't remember what the number of days is, but the same holds true for United pilots on long term COLA. I was taken out of CASS when I was on long term disability - of course, I didn't have a current medical so I wasn't legal to jumpseat anyway.

Under our current language you have to be current and qualified to remain in cass. That was a change and went against cola Loa language.cola Loa language said as long as your legal (medical and license) you stay in cass and we had mil pilots go years. Like I said that’s the language problem. The company can now say due to vol 1 language your now not legal. I’m sure the faa weighed in on that change as they had to because it’s part of our ops specs now. That’s probably true for everyone.

Current and qualified is probably an FAA requirement, with mil leave possibly being something that's waivered. Perhaps not noticed until the recent COVID COLAs?
I also couldn't get ID90s with other airlines when I was on LTD and I've seen where coworkers at United have stated they couldn't get ID90s past a certain number of days on COLA.

sound about right. We also had a few pilots that would list as fa specifically on Ual so they could get a seat in the back because they hadn’t been put back in cass yet. AFTER they were current and qualified again. Both Our jump seat committees put a stop to that quick but there was a few days where it created problems. Probably why the original question was posted. I believe the current and qualified might be a new post covid faa interpretation of cass because I know it wasn’t for us and I don’t believe it was for you either but I could be wrong. Our jump seat pilot says it’s in a sub section of the fars. Have fun if anyone actually wants to look it up and see when it was written. Thanks for the input.

Which is garbage, because agents at United won't even put us in a cabin seat if CASS is not working or you're on leave. I know UA pilots enjoy the privilege of sitting the back with no CASS on us, so I find it disappointing UA jumpseat committee did not address this issue.

If cass is down they should still put you in the back. Your not a fa so I’m not sure what to tell you on that one?

I have a friend on the JS committee at UAL and can assure you they were doing everything they could to get our pilots onboard. My take is that there is a a great amount of goodwill between our union and theirs and if anyone did get left behind it was taken very seriously by all concerned..
