my friend is at mco, he showed me no vacancies there on the last vacancy release. Maybe someone can comment, but looks like Mia is the most likely candidate for the Dec Class… I am probably wrong tho 😂

Reserve looks like being on call at the beach….

2 hour callout or 12 hour for long call. A early morning, C afternoon, E Late night/redeye. Reserve sucks no matter what airline you are at unless you live in base. Our reserves can pick up over guarantee on their days off and can aggressively pick up trips for the next duty days if there are any.

What percentage of the time do they call? 80-90 percent?

50/50. Way to many variables. I have gone months with getting 1 call and months where I’m at 75 hours half way in. The company doesn’t want to pay you to sit so we run very light on reserves

There are no additional positions being created in MCO, however there are likely to be vacancies created there as those who want ATL (and other bases) bid and move out. Whether those will be filled by existing pilots or left vacant for new hires is unknown at this point. As of the last award however, the most junior FO in all bases east of the Mississippi was a new hire, so I would say chances are pretty good if you don't get it as your first base award in training, then you should get it in the next system bid.

Hey Avid !

Welcome to F9 ! We’re glad to have you. I bid reserve left seat east coast but obviously same rules apply to the right seat ish staffing wise.

I think if you are Miami you’ll be used most on C and D reserve but correct me if wrong. D will give you all the Central America red eye turns. I don’t mind it but the times are a bit brutal. Nice warm welcome to Frontier instead of doing Denver day hub turns with all the super senior people

If staffing is sufficient (obviously ) it’s not terrible. Reserve that is. This month I was literally able to swap 8 reserve days which gave me a block of 9 off. If you like to work I could have easily picked up 6 days of flying and I would end up with 120 credit 60 block ish. Remember everything over 82 credit pays 125%. So if you want to swap days (if sufficient staffing) and make money you can. Me, I’ll take the the days off with 75 hours and take the wife to Europe and forget about planes for 10 days.

i don’t think we have hired the last captain yet based on firm orders alone. If Denver is your goal just to put things in perspective a 6 year guy could hold captain on the east coast or 50% ish as a Denver FO ! Which is not a bad life on the current contract if you get to walk your kids to school everyday but just saying DEN you’ll be FO forever and I do think we’re moving to more day turns and Denver is getting smaller and smaller even though the 400 numbers will convince you it’s not 😁

Anyway, welcome and looking forward seeing you on the line !

Thank you for your response! Looking forward to being part of the family! Very excited, so far I have only met amazing people.

I actually live 10 min from Mia 😃 and looking to fly the least possible as I have a baby and help my wife take care of him. Let’s see how things develop! I don’t mind doing red eyes 👀

Nothing beats reserve at home but that’s my opinion. You’ll forget you are on call half the time just don’t start drinking while mowing the lawn at 11 am. I get used less than 30% of the time and people do bid reserve for QOL. Long call you will be used first but almost always will they give you a call 24 hour prior instead of the 12 required. So people all over the SE and NE bid long call and stay home without going to base ever on reserve. They can however convert you to short call I believe no more than twice a month. We are starting with kids as well and I will be bidding reserve so I can hopefully stay home more as well. Welcome and 1st and 5th coffee on me for our first Central America turn when you join the line soon.
