Southwest canceled 3972 flights or 3.8%
Frontier canceled 79 flights or .6%
It got much worse for Southwest, United and AA in December but I can't find the stats yet.

And as a commuter, I actually get some sort of priority trying to get to work. That is my biggest complaint, our flight benefits SUCK and as a commuter, you are literally the BOTTOM of the list of EVERY airline. Our network is too small and flights too infrequent to be able to depend on it as a commuting option. I'm headed to AA myself. Had interview offers with all three, basing and movement is why I picked AA. I know 12 others that have interviews in the next 30 days.

Actually, we completely crapped the bed at the end of October. AA ran a pretty clean operation over the holidays. You might be thinking of Delta, who struggled over Christmas.

What are we even comparing here? This isn't a "my dad makes more than your dad" scenario. Who cares what the stats are, it's not apples to apples. When you have 8 flights between 2 city pairs vs 1 on MWF it's easy to say our cancellations are lower. And even if it were comparable, what does that matter? Who cares? What are you guys trying to prove? Do you think the public goes....let me look at who cancelled the least flights in December before I book my January ticket?

So back to the original question, "Is this place on the verge of imploding?" I don't think so at all. Sure, people are leaving. Pilots are leaving every airline now because this is the perfect storm where pretty much any qualified pilot who wants to get hired at their airline of choice, can. This will cause challenges of course, but the ULCC model isn't going anywhere. During a recession, they will thrive. Business travel has yet to come back, and isn't likely to return to pre-pandemic levels for a long time if ever. INTL travel will continue to struggle and shops like UAL that have more wide bodies than DAL and AA combined have their work cut out to figure out how to make those airframes profitable. The AA 777 MIA - LHR returned to MIA the other day because someone wasn't wearing a mask... that plane had 137 pax on it.
Lets face it, this place makes money because they are CHEAP in ALL aspects. That includes pay. *****ing about it is like going to chilli's and complaining about the shrimp scampi and service. So, if someone has the opportunity to fulfill their dream of flying for their first choice airline, the basing / commuting options are better, and it makes reasonable financial sense they are leaving. For me, I'm leaving for basing and movement at a legacy. I don't hate it here, have had a good time and enjoyed everyone that I've flown with.
Now, that being said how selective F9 can be on who we hire moving forward is going to take a hit. The training dept and LCA's will have their work cut out and will actually have to Train / Teach vs. Evaluate. The company is going to have to start paying for hotels in training and most likely increase first year pay. Paying for hotels in DEN for out of base instructors will help attract new talent to the training dept - every other airline pays. Right now, all you get is guys who live in DEN who can't hold a line or simply don't want to fly. No one is going to Commute to DEN to then pay for their own hotel / crash pad to benefit the company. Our instructors are good, but are they the best we have on property? I would argue there are some really talented pilots out there that would come to the training dept if it wasn't on their own dime. In the near term, upgrades will take a hit simply because there won't be enough FO's. NK advertised 35 a month for 2022 in Dec. They now are saying 10 due to FO shortages. Can't very well leave the right seat empty and if we aren't paying for training and our year one pay is the lowest it will be hard to fill the class room. Is the place on the verge of imploding though? No, I don't think so at all. But we also have DEN CA's *****ing about making 300K a year on reserve, so to them the place is probably about to burn to the ground. I think F9's next plane should be a 319 pulled out of the bone yard with Eeyore on the tail and they should be relinquished to just flying that tail. LOL

In this case, the grass is MUCH greener elsewhere. Contact some that have bailed from F9. I fly with some of them.
I'm at UAL, but if I were bailing from F(, my first choice would be American. It's not perfect there right now, but it's a helluva lot better than F9.
But don't you fret - premium pay will save the day. That should help F9's finances.
