Default Just Finished A320 Type in Dallas - Ask Away!

Hi everyone,

I just went through the first part a somewhat new and little-known pathway to F/O at Frontier.

I spent three weeks at ATP Jets in Dallas, TX with five other new hires:

- We completed at-home ground school ahead of time;
- Attended and finished the ATP/CTP in Dallas;
- Completed the one-week (ish) A320 Type course and got our ATP Certs with A320 Type (Airbus specific training, not Frontier);
- Finished with four days of Frontier (F9) familiarization and flows training

Next up: we will be starting normal ground class this month with all of this amazing insight and a good head start on our knowledge.

It was incredibly challenging, humbling, and life-changing at the same time. No hyperbole. However, had I known about the course what I know now, the six of us would've been a little less stressed during the process. I'd like to help by answering any questions you have.

If you have been hired through the Cadet Program, Military Transition, or other Frontier (F9) pathway...

Ask away!

(PM if you prefer not to share your personal details)

I’m in the cadet program, about 5-6 months away from mins. What can I be doing ahead of time to prepare?

Really appreciate you making this post, as this new program is a bit unclear during the transition phase between meeting ATP mins and the actual F9 class date. I'm in the program and about 5 months out. Still having a hard time wrapping my head around a week-ish A320 type/ATP cert, especially for those like me who this will be their first type rating... Congrats on your accomplishment!

Questions:

(1) Once they give you the initial Dallas dates (ATP/CTP, A320 Type/ATP Cert, and F9 Familiarization), do they also provide you with a tentative F9 class date?

(2) Am I correct in I'm assuming the A320 type program is pretty much what is posted on ATP's website? https://atpflightschool.com/type-rat...pe-rating.html

(3) In how much advance do they provide you with the at-home ground school prior to the course?

(4) Finally, to bounce off when you said, "...had I known about the course what I know now, the six of us would've been a little less stressed during the process," what would you say are the top 3 things you wished you would have known prior to the course to help better prepare?

Seriously, thanks! I'm going to send you a private message with one last question.

So what were the things you came to know about the course that alleviated the stress you had going into it?

I'm starting the Jet Transition course on Monday after picking up a shortfall, so I've really only had just under a week to prep. I finished the CPaT and im working on flows, memory items, and limits now.

Anything else that I should really focus on? This'll also be my ATP ride (prior Army rotary guy).

It feels like an overwhelming amount of info in such a short period of time, but I'm excited to get started!
